I just upgrade from the samsung behold 2 to the my touch slide. I should get it the end of this week. I'll see if it has the 2.2 update or not. All I know is that anything haas to be better than the piece of crap samsung I've got now.

Ok no need for anyone to be mean. It was just a clairification, no big deal. But I got my slide yesterday. So far I like it a lot. The only thing throwing me off is the touch pad at the bottom. No 2.2 update on it. Sill just 2.1.
Its a lot more responsive in Cyanogenmod 6. But I hate it too, why not just have a trackball?

I'm sure it was for looks. Trackball was bulking this is smooth and looks awesome. I'm more used to it now that I've had the phone about a month. And was playing with it on my friends new MT4G, it's much better that phone.

I hate the sensor pad on this phone. My girlfriend's old phone (cliq xt) had a pad on it like a laptop and worked a lot better.
I remember mucking around once with a sister's Blackberry Pearl and it had a trackball. I thought it was awesome, and when I saw that this phone had a trackpad, I thought it would be better than her trackball.

Hey, wait, lets stop there. I'd hate to have this thread hijacked with unrelated comments. And I know there isn't a 2.2 update yet, but lets try to keep things relevant. I'm just saying.

If they can make this update compelling enough (which I highly doubt), I might even go back to just using stock. But then again... I bet once that happens, ROM development is going to explode. Thats assuming there is an update, and considering T-Mobile's past, I wouldn't be surprised if they backed out.
Yes T-Mo is highly annoying when it comes to updates for anything. Although I'm a pretty laid back person, I keep the stock stuff and don't download a whole lot, but I do use my email, text, maps and net all the time.
I work for t-mobile and i have to agree that they are taking forever for this update but i can assure you that it is on the way. I also just had an HTC rep come through telling me the update will "be out by the end of the year" which is what he always told me since way back when i got my Slide (june).
well i wouldn't say i fell for the 4g but my 100% free (no mail in rebate) mytouch4g will be here on wed. gotta love tmobile customer service! they've really hooked me up over the last year or so. check out this list. not the best line up of androids, but hey, i didn't pay a dime and i still have each phone...no trade ins.
my free android phone count (since Nov. 2009):
-behold 2 (my free replacement for behold 1)
-cliq (wife's free replacement for sidekick crash)
-mytouch slide (my free replacement for the behold 2)
-mytouch slide (wife's free replacement cliq)
-mytouch 4g (free with contract extension for customer loyalty)
this is not meant to come off as braging, its really more of a shout out to tmobile for their service! this customer is very satisfied!

Wow... I would totally take a free 4G over the Nexus S. All T-mobile would give me was my upgrade back so I am fully eligible to get the Nexus S for $200. I'm not even sure if the Nexus S is HSPA+ compatible and frankly don't care. I get plenty of speed on my Slide on 2.1 so i'm sure my Nexus on 2.3 with that Hummingbird processor will surely fly. I guess I will just have to go back to using my TomTom for GPS.
I must be blackballed on T-mobile's costumer service because I can no longer speak to any americans and have less than a 20 minute wait on hold.

believe me i didn't think they would do it either, in fact, i was shocked! but, if you work high enough up the csr ladder and you will eventually get what you want just takes persistence. to be honest i don't think they will do this for me again with in this contract. they even pointed out to me all they have done this year for me this time when i talked to them so i'm pretty sure its starting to get to be more of a problem but hey, at least they got me locked down for another 2 year contract. they'll make their money back over that time.

I am on my 14th Slide
And the only alternative exchanges ever offered to me were the Garminphone, the Cliq, and a Blackberry Bold.......... basically cancelled devices.

Had a BB 8320 that I upgraded to a free BH2, went thru 4 of those! Then they finally gave my a 3G Slide for free. So far I'm doing ok with that, but we'll see how it goes over the next couple months...Maybe I'll get a newer upgrade as well

The Slide is a great phone as long as you get one that is built solid... which I have'nt found yet but I hear about it lol.
I do really love my slide. So far it seems to be a solid phone. Moves quick, don't have to reboot it very often, and it seems smooth going. Hopefully that will get better if T-Mobile their heads outta there butt and gets the 2.2 update out to us.
I'll have to look at the Nexus S tho, haven't heard to much about it.

Does it have broken GPS like the other Galaxy phones?
My gf has a MyTouch Slide (which is why I check this subforum, to see when 2.2 is ready). She's dropped it so many times that it's become a running joke, but the thing just won't break. She must've gotten one of the "solid" ones, because aside from a couple of scuffs, it looks and feels good as new.

other then a bad battery my MTS had been great for me.. I just wish my G1 didn't die .. I would have waited till the end of this year to get a new phone.. Which would have been the N-S or the G-2 ....
They should have just released the MTS with 2.2 but I don't know why those higher ups at T-Mobile where thinking...
I think if by Jan 10 I don't get an update. MTS will go for sale and I will get either a G-2 or Nexus -S ..
Well, I've been using froyo/espresso for a few days now on my mytouch 4g and i have to say its better, but not that much better. Nothing huge comes with froyo really (besides wifi calling and wifi hotspot), and apps to sd is a joke for now since most apps don't support it yet. Still I do think its worth it overall so I hope for you guys (and my slide's resell value) it does come soon. If not do what I did...try to get a free 4g or at least ask for upgrade pricing (results may vary) and join the 1ghz+ revolution.

Yeah, I'm doubting this update will get here "before the end of the year." I kinda doubt it will be a Christmas gift. Maybe a new years eve gift, but I doubt that as well. When will the T-Mobile people say: "You'll get it before the end of January"? ...
T-Mobile launched the world's first Android Phone - the G1 - with a focus on function. The carrier removed the keyboard in favor of curves, sexifying it up in the form of the MyTouch 3G. Now smashh the two together and you've got the best o... Read More
