So now with the phone having official froyo and it running pretty smooth I have decided to sell the slide. I just want to know what a good price is....
Ideally I would like to get around $150 so I can get the new sidekick. I know it might be teenish and 1GHz is yesterdays news but it has a 5 row keyboard and a front facing camera.
Do you think $150 is too much? the phone is a 1 month old replacement with no knicks of scuffs at all. All accessories work fine and the headset is a new replacement pair.
Going by selling prices for slides on ebay (average around $150) that would be the most a used one will go for no matter the condition. $120 is far more realistic but there are many available so I wish you luck, but it probably won't be an easy sale but, you never know.
Btw gazelle will only give you $95...that phone is on the way out.

At this point I may bite the bullet and take the $95 I figure the sidekick is only $99 and no matter how childish it may seem it has the 5 row keyboard, front facing cam, cloud messaging, and a 1GHz processor. Sure I could pay $100 more for a G2x and have a dual core 1.2GHz processor but it has no HSPA+ support and no matter what phone I get now they will all be irrelevant in a year if this merger goes through.
Well the truth is it actually DOES support at&t hspa+ bands. It is the only future proof phone on tmo. You've got it all backwards here. Check the reference link again (at&t 4G bands=850, 1900 Mhz).

Ok.
But AT&T is already on record as saying that everyone coming from T-mobile will be eligible for a subsidized price on a phone once the merger happens and no matter what phone I get now it will be outdated in a year and I will want the upgrade, So since the G2x is "future proof" will I still get the upgrade from at&t?

Nothing official has been stated by at&t regarding future customer migration. Anything you've heard is 100% pure speculation and in no way can be considered fact. Don't expect a free upgrade...its likely not even on the table. Plus all current contracts will likely have ended before the retool of tmo's AWS band so expect nothing but a full upgrade (if that).

Reason: Spelling
Yeah but it has the sidekick keyboard which is even better the G1's and kills the G2's (the mytouch slide keyboard is better than the G2's)
Oh and you are correct sir the G2x is HSPA+ compatible but it is the same version found on the G2 and MyTouch 4G. That being the 14.4 version. The Sidekick is HSPA+ 21 like the Vibrant 4G.
Just ordered mine... I am secure enough in my manhood to get the pink one. It just looks better. I will however be buying a black battery cover replacement.

Im kinda liking the idea of this sidekick...before they werent exactly smartphones and had terrible cameras. Seems like something android and samsung respectively do well
I hate to say it be weren't we wrong about the Vibrant?
The Galaxy S phones got froyo and in the Vibrant's case it got the update months before the 3G Slide. Now they are releasing the Gingerbread update for the world version of the Galaxy S..... something we know the 3G slide will never see officially.
Wrong about the vibrant?? It has nothing to do with the vibrant. My issue never was the vibrant or if it did or didn't get updated. My issue is with continuing to support a company that out right lied at the worst or at best used shady business practices. I for one will never give them the chance to use me like that again. I don't forget...maybe you do.

Just got my SK4G last night and I am telling you it is quite nice. The keyboard is probably the best ever on android. way better than every other one I have owned (G1, G2, Cliq, and Mytouch Slide). The UI is a lot less intrusive than I expected. Sure a lot of people are going for the g2x and the upcoming HTC Sensation and GSll but for what I wanted it for (messaging and social networking) the Sidekick is simply amazing. Oh, and as I expected the camera takes pictures just as good as the slide.
T-Mobile launched the world's first Android Phone - the G1 - with a focus on function. The carrier removed the keyboard in favor of curves, sexifying it up in the form of the MyTouch 3G. Now smashh the two together and you've got the best o... Read More
