Default Pulse Not Connecting To Network

Anyone had this problem? My son's Pulse is about six weeks old now and all of a sudden it's stopped connecting to the mobile network. Have tried:

Power down and back on.
Power down, battery out, sim out, leave 30mins, back in, power up.
Swap his sim and my sim (also T-Mobile, G2) and his sim works in my phone, his phone won't connect with my sim either.
Applied update already from T-Mobile web site.

Will be taking it in to store tomorrow but I know that the tubbies in store will be clueless as usual. I'd rather have a replacement that have it sent away and my son be without a phone for weeks.

Wonder (a) if anyone has seen ths before, (b) if there's any way I can demand a replacement instead of repair and (c) if they send it away and he's without a phone are T-Mobile in breach of contract by not supplying the service we are paying for?

faulty t-mobile pukse power connection

I can't remember the exact wording, but I think they have to either repair or replace based on the research I did back then. Your testing seems to show it's a faulty phone, so just get them to replicate that in store and assert your consumer rights and you should be fine. I think. I'm not a lawyer

Thanks for that - more weirdness now. Seems to connect if I specify 2G only, soon as I set it to use 3G is available then it doesn't conenct at all. Workable with till the weekend when I shall take it into the store.

The first thing they'll do is check the network in your area, and then they'll tell you it's poor and they can't guarantee coverage inside the house at your location. I had the same issue when I first got mine, 3G was terrible, and there was a fault in my area causing it. To be fair, they fixed the fault and now I think it's just the phone that's dodgy. I still love it though

I leave mine on 2G constantly to save battery, only switching to 3G when I'm out and about and need faster speeds for browsing. Nearly always full bars with 2G, and often none on 3G.

Given the phone's been pulled from the site already, I'm starting to think it was a dodgy phone fullstop which was why it was so cheap. We'll see what the next couple of months brings.

That, I can understand. I know that I get patchy (at best) 3G at my home. But why would the phone NOT connect to the T-Mobile network at all? My G2/Hero is set to use 3G when available...currently sat in my office at the back of the house, I get no 3G so it's defaulted down to GPRS. I still get voice and texts.

Defo fault with the handset - can't see any other reason.
