Default hide ringtones from musicplayer but not ringtone list

Hello guys, this has been asked a million times i know, as I've spent all day trying to find a solution, and I'm at my wit's end, I'm really hoping someone can help me before i completely flip my wig with this phone. I have tried adding a .nomedia file to the ringtones and notification folders, but then they don't show up in the list of ringtones. I have also tried various appropriately named folders, which gingerbread is meant to recognise but it's no good, they still show in media player. Any ideas please?

Surprised you couldn't find the info, since this is such old news.

Anyways, create a folder on your sdcard called 'media'. Then within that folder create three more, 'ringtones', notifications', and 'alarms'. Put your tones in each of those.

good luck
