I'm on a T-Mobile prepaid plan and my speeds on the N4 are just about that much improved over what I used to get on my GN, same network, same plan.
I imagine it is a typo, but the Galaxy Nexus is HSPA+ 21.

Got it. I am actually happy if i can hit 1.5mps ups and down on my phone. That is smooth Skype video already.

As others mentioned, HSPA+42 in the real world approaches or exceeds the speeds users are averaging on LTE. For an example, in PC Magazine's test for the Fastest Mobile Network, shows that T-Mobile's 3G (which for those cities is actually HSPA+ 42) typically averages in the same range as carriers using LTE, and in some cities their average speed is faster.

Last, since this thread is about the Nexus 4 on T-Mobile, it doesn't matter in the least that the Nexus 4 doesn't have LTE, as T-Mobile does not yet have LTE, either.

What is so funny about all this is that I have the HTC 4G LTE now on the SERO plan and Atlanta was the first city to have LTE and I got it at my house on the FIRST day. But coverage is spotty and this HTC phone tolerence is not as great as the S3 but the 2nd Radio upgrade did a pretty good job.

Now if I leave Sprint for T-mobile, I will be waiting for LTE again.

Since HSPA+ 42 is great, why does T-mobile still wants to upgrade to LTE?

Frankly, I am happy with 1.5 mbps download VS any 3G speed.

Welcome to the Internet...

Also, 4G != LTE. Wimax and HSPA +42 can be marketed as 4G in the same way LTE can. None meet the actual 4G throughput requirement. So this phone certainly can use 4G, and does so on T-Mobile in the US.

There's various reasons, marketing, future phone logistics, etc. T-Mobile is actually set to have the fastest LTE network as they will be deploying LTE Advanced and once they have completely refarmed Metro's network their LTE will be at least 20x20.

I see.

My Sprint HTC LTE phone will not do 4G. Its either LTE or 3G and LTE coverage is still spotty.

So now I learn my lesson, I will do 4G phone until T-mobile completed all their LTE network.

I have a evo lte on sprint since it came out. I'm in the Dallas area, one of sprint's first lte area's. Its pathetic and i'm switching to tmobile soon. I bought a Nexus 4 and activated it on walmarts 30 dollar plan. I carried them around and tmobile would always beat sprint on speedtests even when i had full bars on LTE, which is very spotty. Screw sprint and i'ven with them for over 12 years

I am now in Orlando and I m tether at 3G speed on Sprint with a LTE phone. My wife laugh this is slow.

Sprint make a big mistake in releasing LTE phone where most city have no coverage or spotty coverage. (LTE phone cannot do 4G signal, only at 3G).

Now I hope T-mobile doesnt make that mistake. I am ready to do T-mobile and prepaid when my contract finish in July. SIM is far better. Now I can use my phone oversea too.

Is there any store to check out this phone?

I cant believe Google, the company that are so good with search engine, etc can under estimate the selling of this phone. LG is ramping up production now.

If you get this, how are you going to get the T-mobile Visual Voicemail and other T-mobile apps on there? Is this the disadvantage?

Disadvantage is the shiny back and the back camera screen. Can be easily scratched.

Xphone. I just read it. Motorola division of Google will try to grab shares from Samsung and Apple.

Nice. I like Google and I like their pricing on their Nexus. This will bring drown the prices of smartphones.

I checked the Play store out today, and Google once again is taking orders for the Nexus 4. I guess the question is how fast you'll get your phone if you order it today, since it says it "ships soon".

I am actually downgrade from my phone to One S.

I dont seem to like bigger phone.

One S back is nice and not easily scratched. All aluminium. Why do makers make shiny and slippery back?

I ordered mine at about 11pm on Jan 31st and got the shipping confirmation and tracking number at 6am on Feb 5th which should make delivery one week from the order date. Damn the irony that the phone will make it here before the sim card!

I am kicking myself ...

Only use the new One S for 1 week. Last night I place an order for the S4.

I will never do contract and will only do Google phone from now onwards.

I wish all manuf. would just make a stock unlock Google phone like HTC without the Sense.

Now if I leave Sprint for T-mobile, I will be waiting for LTE again.

Since HSPA+ 42 is great, why does T-mobile still wants to upgrade to LTE?

Frankly, I am happy with 1.5 mbps download VS any 3G speed.
The N4 has lte capabilities u have to activate them by going into the dialer menu. U can use it on T-Mobiles band 4 lte when it becomes active.

Questions about the N4 on T-mobile:

1. The T-mobile Visual Voicemail work on the N4 ?
2. The AC adapter to the wall is a USB interface?

I got my N4 last night. It only took 6 days.

I really like this phone. The part I like is it is wider. Now my big/fat finger can type properly.

The screen is very vivid. Speaker is louder than my One S.

There is alot of app you have to choose/add beside Google ones.

If Samsung or anyone make this phone, it would be at least $550. Shame on them. I love Google!

The speaker on the N4 is so much better and louder than the One S or the HTC EVO 4G LTE.

I really enjoy the video chat on Skype now. No more squatting it next to my ear.
