Is it possible that your phone is set to use 2G networks only?

Have you looked at the user submitted data @ Sightings of T-Mobile 3G/4G/HSPA+ coverage on 1900MHz (PCS/UMTS band II) ?

Are they going to update their coverage map to reflect when the towers are changed?

That is a good question.
We will have to wait and see if they will discriminate between HSPA on AWS or HSPA on PCS.
Right now they do that for EDGE/HSPA so that would mean a third map.
Do not assume that all of the EDGE area will be HSPA on PCS and use that map, it will not.

Something tells me they will not do this because it will raise the bar and people will expect them to upgrade the EDGE network which they will not do.
