Default Get rid of dinging when changing volume?

So I love the HTC One, but I hate this "feature" where the phone makes sounds when you're changing the volume.

So in looking to fix it, I found this thread here:

[HOW TO] and some root terminology

but when I tried it, rebooting seems to only restore the previous settings. I also noticed that this happened when I tried to remove the AT&T bloatware.

Is there anyway to make changes to system files permanently?

Okay, so I just flashed the latest Android Revolution ROM which was suppose to have an option to turn off the noise, but somehow that's not working either.

What's going on here?

EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot to activate xposed...I feel stupid. But anyway, my problems are fixed for now.

glad you are sorted. what you were experiencing is write protections on the stock kernel and OS while booted. when you are s on,you can only make changes from recovery.

flashing a rom,or non-stock kernel is the best solution

Okay thanks. I know my way around a system, but I'm not really dev savvy. That's good to know though.
