Default New to the phone, and I have lots of questions (:

I haven't gotten my phone yet, I get it tomorrow (: but I have some questions. I came from the htc design I've used other android phones to. I AM NOT A DEVELOPER. Now to my questions (:

Is the root all in one tool a custom software that you can root you phone basically hands free ?

MY biggest question. Is your community a friendly one?

How's the dev support? I can from a phone who hadn't had an update since august of last year. I'm sure that's no problem here (:

I use straight talk does 4G work? And will I have to change anything to get mms?

Can I flash one xl/+ roms? Or are they all the same ?

Like I said I'm new you guys will see me ALOT after tomorrow(when I get my phone) I can't wait (:

Sorry if there are a thousand similar threads.

Most of your questions I can't answer, but I'll take the one you identified as your biggest question. The mod team here is friendly.

Only root using methods and roms specific to your model and carrier.

For details on rooted feature capabilities, please ask around in the root forum for your model / carrier.

We're the friendliest user forum there is and especially so if you're new to any of this - we all were once and know how you feel.

Welcome, you're getting a great phone!

Yep, the ATT One X is called the One XL to differentiate it from the International One X version.

Do still have to use a computer to flash roms/getting into recovery? Via fastboot, or could I just do it without a computer and just flash the roms?

Having computer makes things easier unless you prefer typing commands via terminal emulator whenever you flash a new rom.

As it is now, you have to flash the boot.img file via fastboot for each rom.

Here is a thread with the fastboot commands.

And just FYI. This forum is my absolute favorite. It has always been an invaluable resource whenever I need help or blow something up.

I came over from the evo. The OneX isn't nearly as active, for example there isn't a new Rom every week if you are a flashaholic.

And that might be due to a couple of factors. The nature of the game has changed. I've heard devs say they are done with HTC because this one was such a pain in the ass when it came to rooting, etc...

But I'm in love with this device. Rooted it. Cleaned all the bloatware. Found a really good Rom that I like. Nocturnal. And there were plenty of tweeks out there for me to be plenty satisfied. And ASOP will also get stronger with time.

Plus, IMHO this phone beats out Sammy. For now anyway

Got it rooted running venom (: and the devs are gonna leave? I just came from a dead device I'd hate to see that happen with this. It's like the best of the best. I don't see how that could happen.
