I'm thinking about leaving Verizon for straight talk. I'd be using the gnex with a at&t sim. I've heard bad things about dropped calls and spotty coverage. In general has at&t improved over the past few years? and how's the NYC and long Island coverage areas?

Same question only with Chicago as the city...anybody got any major complaints against them? Is there alot of dead zones like I have with Sprint???

Well I switched to AT&T about a month ago and had the same concerns. I had them in the past(years ago) and did have trouble at times. Since I switched though I have had excellent customer service as well as reception.

I live in New Jersey but have traveled up and down the East coast since switching and have had no issues at all. I was surprised in fact that when in S.C. out in a remote area I picked up 4G service.

For all the complaints and bitching about AT&T having a crappy network and horrible service, I have not had any of it. The other thing I will mention is that my bill and plan are exactly what they have said it was going to be, unlike my experience with both Verizon and Sprint.

I have a friend that lives in the New York/Staten island area and he has had no issue either. Hope this helps. I can't speak for Chicago, but being a larger city I would have to say that I doubt there are issues there if they can cover the back woods of S.C.

Again, while not living in your area, i have had no issues with my BYOD AT&T S3 on ST. Even in some remote areas, and trust me Maine has a few, i still am able to make and receive calls. Data slows down in some remote areas but around where i live it exceeds VZW by at least 3 times
We do not currently have LTE in my area but over the air HSPA+ which the phone says is 4G is very good. I get consistently 6 tp 7 MEGA bits over the air at work and 3 to 4 MEGA bits around where i live.
