Default Reset voice mail?

I've been with AT&T forever. My hubby just called me so I could find my phone and said the vm message was "this user has not set up voice mail" or some such thing. I called myself and had to go through the process of setting it up. I haven't done this in years! Why now? I don't think it would matter, but I used my hubby's upgrade in Nov to get an S3, and he just used mine to get his, but it deactivated my SIM when he upgraded on my line. I had to get a new SIm. Could that be it?

It could be. I've noticed that whenever I make even the slightest change to my plan, I end up having to set up my v-mail again.

Crazy.

So, yeah. Now I have a password that I didn't have to have before. Is that typical and I've just gotten away without having it for a long time? Is there a way to disable passwords?

Yes. I don't remember the exact menu option but when you're in voice-mail setup, explore the menus. It may be called something like advanced options or something similar but the option to turn off your password IS there somewhere.
