I tried to use these profiles for 3 days and it is using way too much battery. My battery monitor shows tasker using 30 percent of the battery. I have never had it that high before.

The getlight profile should only be enabled when the screen is off. It should turn off when screen turns on. If it is not doing this, it will continually poll the light sensor, draining battery

I had it too after upgrading to jb. Well it was returning 0.0 then I deleted everything and restored it. Then it was "LIGHT". I spoke to the dev and he said that if it was linked to a disabled profile (which it was) tasker decides it doesn't need to
I just had this happen to me when I transferred to a new phone. Weird. I set %LightValue to a number and the problem was fixed.
I was hoping this would work for me... I set %LightValue to "1" when creating it (is that what you mean?) but when the task runs, %LightValue still turns to "LIGHT"

Im not sure I understand... You mean a profile that is 'uncheck' under the profile tab? I don't have any disabled profile and %LIGHT still returns "LIGHT".
If either of you have any other ideas please let me know.
i first have to commend you on a brilliant tasker profile i hate having to leave the house and not be able to see anything on the screen in sunlight(i have my brightness set to min). Well i downloaded the profile v2 and added it to tasker but the profile Get Light keeps disabling itself instead of a green tick i get a red cross symbol. I click it it turns green but the min i exit the app and start it again its back to a red cross. Any ideas why this is happening?

well i tried it in direct sunlight today but the screen brightness didnt change. However if i manually made the screen bright it reset back to min brightness on its own.
I designed it that way. Get light only needs to be on when the screen turns on. It records the value then turns off. If it stays on, your battery would drain as it would constantly recording light values whilst the screen was on

Check the variable in the variables tab. Is it going above the values set? If not, maybe you need to alter the values to suit you. They need adjusting. When I want screen bright might be s higher light value than you...
If you turn it up and it goes dimmer, seems its working just not at values you want to work with
Hey..... I'm not sure what this is. ?But I too would like to have an out brightness adjust thing. Does it work on ice cream sandwich...?? Its an app rite..?
ya i figured that out after reading the profile for testing sake i changed the parameters and made everything to 255 but i dunno the screen does not seem to register brightness above 500.

Where do you live? Maybe its winter and there is no brightness over 500
lol i mean when u click on Display on profile and then brightness level it gives u a screen with <500 then >500 then >3000 and so on and next to tht there is a small green line. Currently its next to <500 and the rest are red in color.
Theres your problem. There are some potential fixes in this thread if you read it all. The post before your first post was the last post discussing this

No, the number is pulled fro the Light Sensor. So that number represents how bright the daylight is around the phone (in Lux) which is what we're basing the whole profile around.
When I took that screenshot, the daylight was 61 Lux.
Your problem is that the Light Sensor is not pushing that data to the variable which probably means there is something wrong with your profile. As I said, people have reported 0 values in this thread and there are some of us who have fixed it so have a read through the thread and try the things suggested.

I went to the Variable tab and set LightValue to a number manually. I had to do it twice.
As per this post he says he set his LightValue number manually in the variable tab but the variable tab number is supposed to come automatically am i right? If i am then how can u set it manually?
Also the %LightValue is supposed to be set to LIGHT or %LIGHT?

i changed the value manually to 700 and the screen brightness changed automatically. Will try auto brightness and see if that makes a difference. The screen protector is covering a very minute portion of the light sensor. I am assuming hte light sensor is the one near where samsung is written.
Ok I am outside my house now and opened tasker it is giving me a reading value of 9 going to check it in direct sunlight and see what it shows. I have disabled tasker and turned on auto brightness will check that also and report back

back home and its reading back at 0.0

maybe it went up to 3536 at one point then kept on the lower side only its showing 4.0 now. The screen protector i have is barely covering the sensor. Will try and take a pic and post it if i can.
to double check the light sensor i installed a free app called Light Meter which gives me a reading of about 12 lux in my room. The tasker profile gives me 12.0 at the same location. So dont know what the issue could be are the settings in the profile too high?
its showing 12 lux at night with lights on not in the day time and its winter here. Going to try it out with a friend on his s3 and see what reading he gets to compare in the same situation.
ok i did a check and it turns out i had mistaken the light sensor on the phone, the actual light sensor is not covered by the screen protector so that should be an issue at all. I got a ridiculous reading on 27339 today in sunlight at which point the screen had full brightness. So i am not sure wht exactly the issue is. sorry to keep bothering you with this.
