I'm having trouble figuring out how to repeat notification sounds over and over.

I can get it to do once or repeat over and over, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to only do it while the notification exists. For example I only wanted to do it until the notification has been cleared.

So i need to know how to check if am unread notification exists then i can play a sound. Then i want to wait a period of time, check if there is still an unread notification, and loop or stop.

Thanks I know this is probably simple but I'm trying to learn.
