Root 2.2 Gold Card

I see that there are plenty of guides on the web to create a gold card, but will the same method work if you are running a rooted 2.2 custom ROM?

Also whilst using the gold card tool, does the phone need to be in DISK DRIVE or HTC SYNC?

If you are rooted, the goldcard method is totally redundant.
When using the goldcard tool have the phone in disk drive, you can even use the goldcard tool with a card reader to make goldcards
