Help 2 Questions, Text & Email

When I get a Text , I get a notification up top, fine. HOw can I get the LOGO/ TEXT icon to show I have a text? like doesn't have like a 1 or 2 ontop to let me know?

Also, email is there a way to separate accounts , I just see that one EMAIL icon and all my accounts are in there.

I use LauncherPro Plus and it has that as an option in one of the settings. I don't know about stock as I installed LPP about 30 seconds after I activated my phone. I also use Handcent for texts, as an FYI, but I don't think that matters. AFAIK, no way to split emails either, but there could be something out there I don't know about (only a slight chance, mind you )
