Will the Incred have the same 3D photo stacking view in the N1? Of all the review videos I've seen it appears it does not but it might just be they chose not to show that off. I really liked that ability to show 3d stacks of photos sorted by date.

Is it possible to use the stock android app for viewing photos instead of the sense photo gallery?

I think Sense UI is what makes it not 3d like that, i believe the stock android look has the stacking.

I got the 3d gallery installed today and with the few short minutes I have had with it thus far I must say it's better eye candy than the Sense gallery. All I had to do to get it installed was go to Menu > Settings > Applications > check Unknown Sources in order to run the apk file. Installed and works like a champ. I highly recommend it!

    Okay, kinna stumped here.
I've checked the Unknown Sources to allow, followed the link provided above, registered on the site, downloaded the file & tried running it.
The phone does not recognize the file type/doesn't know what program to use to open . . . . any suggestions?

    Edit:
Never mind, if I HAD READ the download instructions on the redirected site, I would have seen that a file manager (like Astro) is necessary.
BTW, overall, very simple and it works perfectly!

Any file manager app (from the market)
For some reason, you can't run the app from the "downloads" section of the browser.
The most popular file manager app is "Astro"
    The most versatile/functional is "AndExplorer"
After I downloaded the Gallery apk, file through my phone's browser, I opened AndExplorer and did a search for "Gallery"
The search results located the apk, I selected the file from there & it auto installed perfectly.

And if there is anybody coming from the Eris to the Dinc, rotating to and from landscape works on the. You no longer get that crazy screen. Works wonderfully

May be asking some potentially dumb questions but when I install the apk file I can get the gallery to load. However it cannot find any of the new photos I am taking with the phone - am I doing something wrong? Do I need to move the photos to a different folder for the gallery to see them? Also can the gallery be a widget like the HTC photo album? Thanks.

Edit: I see the above post - so maybe it can only see things on the SD card - is there a way to make photos go to the SD card?

Open the Camera app. Hit Menu, scroll to settings. Select Storage. Choose Storage card.

Almost no apps can see the 8 GB internal storage right now except for the stock ones in the OS. That gallery app cannot see it, so you have to put all pictures you want to be in that app onto your SD card. If you use picasa web albums you should see all of those in there as well.

Thanks! Looks like I will be needing a bigger SD card.

I totally recommend this app. It's indescribably better-looking and more useful than the stock. It groups the photos into albums, and then subgroups them by date and marks them with a location. It looks MUCH better than the original and still has the same basic functionality like pinch-and-zoom.

As mentioned, just place the file anywhere on your phone and install it using Astro file manager (which you can delete afterwards). The only drawback is that it can only read photos from an SD card, but apparently this applies to all non-stock apps.

Since installing the 3D Gallery, my phone keeps telling me that permission is requested to access my primary gmail account.

Is it okay to allow this or should I ignore?

BTW, I'm coming to the Incredible from an iPhone I've had for two years.

If you want it to sync your picasa web albums, you have to allow it permission.

Can anyone attach the .apk to this thread or forum? Don't want to register on the XDA site right now since I probably won't ever use the site.

Does this app have a widget? Every time I try to add it, it just opens up the program instead of prompting me for a widget style or adding a widget to one of my screens.
