The top of XDA site says to delete cache, is this part of the scripts? So far I've only tried the 3g patch. Where else do clear cache besides in cwm?
  2. Bionic Chronic

    Bionic Chronic Well-Known Member

I believe that is what they mean. Boot into Recovery>select wipe cache partition> then reboot.

Can someone please recommend the settings to use for the SuperCharger script? It seems like the script is running over and over again but asking different questions.

I already did the 3G Turbo script and use the experimental 2 setting.

Here are some questions/actions when running the SuperCharger script:

Is Home is Locked in Memory?
    I choose No.

The next action asked: Please Enter Option [1 - 31] but it automatically chose 27 (without me specifying anything)

The next action asked: Please select scrolling speed (1 - 3), I chose 2 (normal)

The next action asked: Use build.prop or local.prop; I chose local.prop

The next question: Disable AWESOME V6 Animation? I chose No

The next question: Apply SuperMinFree Calculator Settings? I chose Yes

The next action asked: Please Enter Option [1 - 31], I have no idea what this value is for, I just chose 6 (LEDDED HP 512 balanced)

Then it did a bunch of stuff, I then chose Yes to do a superclean and restart. Is this right?

I guess I need to create a widget to run this script (under /data) everytime after a powerup, correct?

BioChron, following your steps above doesn't autorun the KAK script on bootup. I double checked /data/unit.rc and it only has the supercharge script at the end. No problem I just edit /data/init.rc and add a line to run the KAK script. Everything running smooth now. Not sure but zvc is giving me low benchmark scores than zv9
  10. Bionic Chronic

    Bionic Chronic Well-Known Member

Well These were the instructions given to me.. Which would mean mine also does not autorun on boot. How do I know if any of them do? I went into root explorer/data and do not see "unit.rc", however I do have 98KickAssKernel.sh and 99SuperCharger.sh. Also a folder V6_SuperCharger. I do not see anything for 3G Turbo Charger though. Any Ideas?
  11. ndno

    ndno Well-Known Member

Oops I meant /data/init.rc. The auto spelling correction keeps changing init to unit when I type it on my phone under Tapatalk. Yeah the /data/init.rc script is run by the main script under the / root directory. Within that script at the end when you do the V6 SuperCharger and KAK setup, it's supposed insert the entries into /data/init.rc at the end to launch the supercharger.sh and kak.sh scripts under /data. On my /data/init.rc I see the supercharge.sh being called but not the kak.sh script. These are called on bootup to apply the tweaks. For the 3g, I think the tweaks are done in /system/building.prop or /data/local.prop; if you open up your version there's a section in one of those files with the 3g tweaks inserted; this gets run as part of the main system on bootup.

Well I went into init.rc, and I must say I felt like I was reading a foreign alien language. Haha. Yeah I will need to wait for |Monster| to get back from hiatus.. Thank you for pointing this out though cause my scripts may not be running either..

    ndno Well-Known Member

The setup installs some html files under /sdcard; you can read them for more instructions. You can manually run the scripts yourself by launching the Script Manager, navigating to /data and clicking on 98KickAssKernel.sh and 99SuperCharger.sh (make sure you click on su and save to run as root) and selecting run. You will see /data/Ran_*.log files after you run the scripts; the contents tell you when you last ran it.

I followed the instructions in one of the HTML files and create a script manager widget on my home screen to launch each of the scripts (this is before I knew it was supposed to be launching it under /data/init.rc). Maybe the widget is the better method because maybe you don't want it to run automatically.

TryingToRoot thank you so much for bringing this to this forum. I just got around to trying it (cuz i'm lazy lol) and My 3G speeds have increased for sure. Thank You very much ;)

Oh wow, I really want to try this one, but reading through this thread is giving me an enormous headache. Quite a bit more complicated than Rooting and Rom/Kernel installs.

Anyway the whole thing could be run in a single batch file or something? Wow, so many steps...... :(

Just an FYI for anyone running CTMod 3.6.5, Bloodawn has already incorporated optimization scripts into the ROM. From the first post of the CTMod thread: Special CTMod init script (don't use any other optimization scripts)

Yep. Blood is pretty good about tweaking CTMod before he releases it. That's one of the reason it runs so darn good from the gitgo. It's always best to ask before installing a tweak. You may end up doing more harm than good. If you do decide to go ahead and try a tweak make sure that you have a CWM backup handy. There's a good chance that you will need it. ;)

Does that mean we shouldn't use the 3g boost either? Although I already used it and had no negative effects, its just hit and miss on when I seem to get a boost with it though.
  19. wetbiker7

    wetbiker7 Well-Known Member Contributor

I'm waiting on an answer back from him on that. I'll post what I find out. There's a good chance that he's already added some tweaks for 3g.
  20. TryingToRoot

    TryingToRoot Well-Known Member

He has, I do not recommend using any of these scripts with CTMod
  21. wetbiker7

    wetbiker7 Well-Known Member Contributor

Now this is only for the 3g script and nothing else because that's all I asked about. Blood said that he didn't use anything on his and he doesn't know if the 3g script will work or not.

Like I mentioned earlier, if you do decide to try this or any of the scripts make SURE that you make a CWM backup FIRST. I may try the 3g tweak this evening, as for the rest of the stuff..... there is no need for it in my opinion. CTMod 3.6 runs almost perfect for me. The only thing that could use a little improvement is 3g speed. When it comes to 3g speed, there is no such thing as 2 fast. lol:D:D:D:D:D:D:aetsch:

    ADDED INFO:

I do believe that I'm going to try the 3g tweak this evening or tomorrow. I'll post my results.

What about with the 3g/4g optimizer pro? or both mixed? i get crap low speeds regardless of which i use so i can't really test it.
  23. wetbiker7

    wetbiker7 Well-Known Member Contributor

If you are talking about the one from the market, I've have several friends that swear by it and say that it truly improved their 3g speed. I haven't really tried it but the guys I'm referring to have been around a while and know what they are talking about. If they say that it helped them, it did. Doesn't mean it'll work for everyone though. You know how that goes. Your location and the number of towers in your area have a whole lot to do with the results because it locks on to the strongest signal. If you're like me, I only have 1 tower in my area so it probably wouldn't help. ;)
  24. jmedno5891

    jmedno5891 Well-Known Member

Well i can tell you after having used the 3g script under experimental 2 settings it definitely gives me a boost, but it isn't a consistent one. Usually anywhere other than my house it works...which makes no sense :sly: and it caused no problems for me

Edit: quoted wrong person.. but yeah :p

Yes blood has already modified the ctmod 3g settings, all of these tweaks are in the from just take a look at your build.prop and you can see what he added.:p
