Help 3gp movie created on DX will not play on my iMac

I'm trying to play a 3gp video file on my iMac (Core i3; OS 10.6.7) and am having no success.

When I try to open a .3gp video file that was created on my phone (Droid X) Quicktime 10 complains:

I'm having issues with 3gp videos after the GB update. I recorded a 7:30 minute video in HD quality and it yielded a 463Mb file that will not play in anything either, INCLUDING my Droid X.

I'm going to reduce the video quality and keep testing it.

I had a similar problem at one point playing these on my Windows PC. I am not at that pc right now, but I Googled that file extension and found several free apps that play it fine. I am on GB 595 and just returned from vacation and shot a lot of hd video and it plays back perfect on my Win 7 pc. I will try and post back when I can check what app I am using

Update on the 3gp issue: while my Droid X (GB 4.5.596.MB810) would play its own videos yesterday, today it cannot play them! The phone is also unable to play .wav files, but that's another story.

After wiping the phone (factory reset), I am now able to produce .3gp files that both phone and computer can read.

Great! Glad you got it figured out. I did finally remember to look and see and on my Windows 7 pc, Windows Media Player actually is what I have set to play those .3gp files. So, that would not be any help on the Mac.
