When Verizon deploys their 4G network in the future will our Droids be able to be updated to take advantage of the extra speed?

Nope. 4G LTE requires special hardware.

By the time the 4g network is widely available it will be almost time for you to get a new phone anyway.

Considering that would be a hardware limitation of the Droid, no.

Yea, and when the new LTE phones are actually usable (Not looking like a phone brick from the 80's) and affordable, it will be 2 years from now.

Then we will be buying the DR0IID.

Negative. 4G requires a different chipset/radio for it. It would be nice if cell phones were SDR, but alas, they are not.
