Don't know about anybody else, but since I installed this update, my battery life just got exponentially better. When I look at the battery usage graph, it is virtually a straight line across, and it corresponds to the update. Over 9 hours after the update, I'm still at 72%. Woohoo! :D:D

Compared to the average to poor life I was getting, this is very noticeable. I purposely did not charge over night and when I checked this morning about 8 am, I still had 43%.

I also downloaded a nice battery app called Easy Battery Saver and the combination with that may be the difference as well. :driver:
So, aside from your new app and the OTA, did you do anything else? My Android OS is killing my battery (suspend is the specific process) and I can't seem to fix the issue.

I did nothing else than the OTA and the battery app. I might have even better percentages but I keep checking my phone because I'm still in disbelief. Like, right now, I'm at 13+ hours, and at 72%, and this after not even a full charge. I had to unplug my phone to get to work and it was only 95%.

I have to admit, I'm nervous about ICS now. I hope it doesn't mess with whatever this last update did. They must have put some Battery Viagra in it.

Well, I do know those battery apps just shut off your radios, so I'm not interested in using them (tried juice defender, but didn't like it). As for the battery viagra, that made me literally laugh out loud. Mine must have been in the control group and received the placebo because it still sucks. I'm getting a new phone replacement on Friday.

Got the phone yesterday, rooted with motofail it ASAP to start removing bloatware (NFL Mobile uninstallable? FFS, even as an NFL fan I find that to be unbelievably obnoxious) with NoBloatFree which worked better than I'd expected. But later in the evening, and again this morning, I got the 1/3 progress bar, then reboot issue with the update.

So I just went back in and restored the backed up/removed apps and it worked just fine. It did kill my root though, so good thing I kept motofail handy.

Now I'm just bragging, but after the huge battery disappointment I had before, the update is amazing. I'm a moderate to heavy user, and today, after 8.5 hours, I'm still at 88%.

Not to burst your bubble, but that app you got that shuts down all communication when it's idle is the reason. You could dump the app and put the phone in airplane mode and get the same result.

No bubble to be burst here. That works fine while my phone is idle. I can't read anything when I'm not looking at my phone anyway. I have most if not all things push when the phone is awake which works fine for me.

It sounds like I'm in the minority, but my battery is noticeably worse after these last couple days. Previously, if I didn't plug in overnight for some reason I could normally make it through an entire second day. Since the upgrade, I'm under 20% by the time I go to bed at night with no change in usage or installed apps. I'm am not even remotely a heavy user.

Nope, my battery life dropped as well. I'm not happy over here.

I've discovered some things about the .181 update...first of all, recalibrate the battery meter...makes a huge difference, or at least it did on mine.

Also, one of the ways it extends the battery life is by disconnecting the Bluetooth when the screen is off for a while...it reconnects fast when the screen comes back on, I just happened to notice it by accident.

I posted somewhere that the update extended my battery by a few hours....but that was before I recalibrated my battery meter...the update actually doubled how long my phone will last on a single charge.

Right now its at 50%....after 28 hours of moderate use.

I have to agree after the update, battery life sucks what our they doing (either the manufactures of the phone or the carriers) but it seems weird to have less battery life after an update just my 2 cents

interesting...... I use battery circle, a battery meter. Before update it was usually < 5% different from stock display. Now after update its about 10%-15% greater than stock meter.
