    Hi,
I got my x10 around 6-7 weeks ago, at 1st the battery was terrible only lasting around 12hrs but after letting it discharge completely then fully charging, it seemed to improve and I was getting up to 48hrs with moderate use.
My problem started a few days ago, I am now only getting around 6hrs on a full charge and the phone is on stand-by.
I have email updates set to 1hr and Facebook set to 3hrs. I have background usage switched off. I have no other widgets that connect online.
I have the following 3rd party apps installed,
    AndroZip
    Handcent SMS
    HTC_IME mod
    Maps
    Note Everything
    Two Touch Timer
Traffic Tv (can't uninstall, bundled with phone)

Any help would be appreciated as I am getting ready to throw the phone out of the window.

There seems to be a power leak whenever you use GPS. I reset the phone (turn off and turn on the phone again) whenever I used GPS. So far the battery is giving good performance. I have not used my Task Killer eversince I tried this. Why don't you try and confirm my suspicion. I kept the 3G disabled all the time unless I need to download mail, syn or get onto the internet. The phone can last for 4 days with light use. If this is confirmed, hope that SE can fix the problem.

Hi, thanks for that factsfinder, I've been on to my service provider and they have recommended that I turn off GSM/WCDMA and use GSM only. If that doesn't extend my battery life then it's a new battery. I'll let you know how i get on.

    @ Bushido Brown

You should install "juice defender" free from the android apps store, it gives you the option of turning off your 3G when your not using it and can easily switch it on when you want to go online etc.

I swear by this app as its doubled, nearly trebled, my battery life on my X10, after installing this app and having my 3G switched off i charged my phone to 100% full, im currently at 71% and the phone has been on for 20hrs now!!!

Please note tho......... i had your exact problem, got my X10 and when the battery was fully charged i only got 12hrs tops until it ran out, i went back into the shop and they gave me a brand new battery and exactly the same happened, went in again and they gave me a brand new X10 and so far my battery life after 2 weeks with juice defender is never lower than 35hrs between charges, get between 35hrs and 60hrs easily so my advice mate is to get your handset changed because i think thats your problem and not the battery through the same experience, hope this helps.

Thanks String82, I am getting better results with GSM/WCDMA off and GSM only.
Was gonna try "Juice Defender" but can't get anything to download from MARKET.
The phone says "starting download" but never actually starts.
I am at my wits end with this so called "smart?" phone, I'm getting problems quicker than I can fix them.

I've had a shot at lots of stuff in my 2-3 months as an Android user.

    My verdict.

I now only run 2 apps (soon to be 1 cause I told my providor - OPTUS in Aust - that my upgrade from my 800mb per month iphone 3G plan needed to be matched with a 1GB per month (free) plan due to the updates they sent through the phone like entertainment news, sports news and news). So 3G watchdog isn't that relevant anymore. PLus OPTUS don't count social networking as 3G data on the plan I am now on - therefore the Timescape updates are free, as they should be, but in my original contract they wern't. I argued and won that battle.

1st app, that I am keeping, is a free one that actually is just a widget that tells you what your battery has been doing. I installed a coupla games (Baseball homerun & Southpark something or other) and with a fresh restart in the morning they had used up 25% of my battery power. So I uninstalled them.

    Can't remember where I started !! Pissed.

But I am guessing that some of us wingers are new to Android. And once we all get over the differences to symb and apple, we will be OK. My steps were from Nokia-Apple-Sony. Over 3 yrs.

I like my X10 now. I know it will only get better. I reckon if a 'Smartphone' gets you through the day of talk, push email, browsing and some BT from home to work and back again. And with a big ass sexy screen to watch some porn or your fav home videos on, then good work.

As I said, new to Android, 1.6 works okay with me. A jump to 2.x will prob be even better. Maybe one day the phone will do the dishes..lol.

    Cheers

    lol,

Yeah the 3G takes "shitloads" of battery life outa my X10

As i was saying above tho i switch it off til i need to go online or check facebook etc, no need to have the likes of facebook updating every 20mins - 1hour, just go on and refresh it once you turn the 3G back on?????

Juice Defender has done wonders for my battery life tho, im ready to charge my phone now is i speak, my battery life is currently at 7% and my phone has been on for a total of 67hrs & 35mins since its last charge, all thanks to that app and 3G being turned off with it.

I had the same download issue with my new X10.

When I first opened the market I had to sign up for a google account. This was created as @googlemail.com, when I logged on to google mail via my pc it asked me to change to gmail.com, as soon as I switched the download problem started.

Logged back on to my pc, switched back to @googlemail.com and the downloads started working again.

Got my MARKET working again, just had to delete some info from the applications cache and sign in again with my Gmail address and hey presto... download started.
I've installed Juice Defender, and after only 2 days, I'm loving this app my phone has now been unplugged for 40hrs and is at 33%.
    A vast improvement.
