A few important notes i dont see emphasized here...

Especially for us ex iphone users who are newbs.

    1) The beta log in portal of the HTC sense control panel is up and running. I logged in tonight and i was able to make my phone ring and track it to my present location. I did not try to secure it or wipe it..(obviously). You can not do a google search and find the darn search but here is the link.

    https://www.htcsense.com/en/#dashboard/'

You of course need your info that you used when you created a sense account on start up. If you skipped it you can go back and run start up again from the setup menu.

    2) Use Google voice. I saw this briefly mentioned but i wanted to expound. Download the google voice app from the market (you need a gmail address and then create a market account and run market). run it and set it up. Do not bother setting it up to send a message to your text msg or email account..just load the widget right on your main home screen and then you will see a Box telling you A) who sent a message B) a typed transcript of the voice mail and C) if you click it you can listen to the message. (scroll through the messages by clicking right or left).

    3) You no longer have to TYPE text messages. Just press and hold the EN key and speak your text and hit send.

These three things (along with setting up the market) would have been TRAGIC to have missed but possibly to have missed coming from an iphone 3GS

Havent figured out how to search the contents of the mail but you can search the senders and subject lines just clicking the magnifying glass while you are in your inbox.... (assuming you are looking for a specific sender or topic in a long long list of inbox emails)..???

    Is that what you meant?

I figured out number 2 on my own, but it bears repeating. Without Google Voice (or at least another app like YouMail), you are stuck with long-pressing 1 to get to the very old-school regular voicemail, and listening to every message in order whether you want to or not.

As a side benefit (for me, primary benefit for others), GV also allows you to make free domestic calls via wifi, and to make very cheap international calls via wifi or 3G.

Another side benefit of Google Voice: free texting.

I have all my friends/family "trained" to only use my GV number for texting.

What you mean free texting?! Is that only between google voice accounts?

No, if you can get people to "only" text your google voice # instead of your regular #, the texting is free, no matter where it comes from.

It's just tough to get people trained. I gave up on it!
