Does anyone else have any real lag issues with the Accelerometer? When I turn my Hero sideways to have the full keyboard, text message or surf the net--it always takes a couple of seconds to configure the screen. I noticed that on the Moment, it does it almost instantly. It has been like that since the day I got it--I had it 3 weeks prior to launch because I am an advocate for the Hero. Is there a setting I am not finding that makes it set up faster? Is there an app I can download that will make it faster?

You may have widgets on your home screen pages that are slowing things down as these may need to reload and get internet data for the new orientation ...

the moment's processor is faster overall than the hero. this may be the reason for faster screen rotation

i experience that lag when rotating also and my hero is bone stock. no widgets, market apps installed or anything... i am probably the only one who likes the bone stock'ness (my word! :D) of the hero...

This may be a default setting for the hero, this way if you slightly turn your phone it doesnt change orientation on you. I had the TP1 and if was using the on screen keyboard and slightly turned the device it would change to landscape and it really made me mad. It may be the phones way of making sure that you want to go to landscape mode, I dont mind at all.

when i first got my Hero it would lag pretty bad when i would turn the phone to landscape mode. now it is significantly faster. i don't know what caused the speed up, but it happened.

You can mask this somewhat by downloading Spare Parts from the Market. There's an option in Spare Parts to turn on "fancy" rotation. This setting adds an animated transition so that you have more immediate visual feedback that something is happening. It doesn't speed it up or slow it down -- it just looks faster.

Not sure how legit this is, but the VZW rep at the store said that HTC made the lag intentional (he was talking about the Eris, of course) so as the phone wouldn't "accidentally" change to landscape if tilted. It's the primary reason I decided not to buy the Hero and subsequently the Eris. As a side note: I hate going to stores and knowing more about the products than the sales reps.

This sounds fishy because if you accidently tilt it, the screen blurs out as if its getting ready to rotate. And if you straigten it back up, it takes even longer for it to correct itself. So the "accidently tilting" is just as likely to occur whether or not the lag is there. In fact, I think it would be better for accidently tilts if there was no lag, becaus if you accidently tilt, it would be instant, and you can instantly tilt it back.

i think the lag can probably be tweaked/sped up in the programming of the phone.. perhaps when they release their update we should all see faster screen rotation.

i have the PRO2 and the screen rotates pretty fast. you can also go into the registry of the phone and alter that setting so i sure it can be done on the hero. the PRO1 had a little lag in the screen as i recall but its much much better on the PRO2....
