Help Adding widget to home broken!

When I press and hold on a blank home screen, I get the menu to add something. But when I choose Widget from this menu, nothing happens. The Widget entry flashes green to show it was selected, but then nothing. And nothing else is clickable then, I have to press Home to get anywhere.

Previously I got a list of widgets to add.

Seems it's crashed.

I recently added K-9 mail, but I've searched their forums and nobody seems to report this behaviour. I also deleted the normal Android Mail accounts (I've since re-added them to try to fix it).

Any help?

Have you tried a 'soft reset'?

Power off your phone > *Remove battery for 30 seconds* > Replace and power on

Long way around trying various things. I actually think it may have been turning off the "pinch" UI option in k9 mail that might have done it.
