Because there is NO Adobe flash on ANY Andoid device.

We will get flash sometime early 2010.

    Research people research.

In that case it would be helpful if HTC didn't print on the product box:

"See web pages come alive on a full-featured mobile browser that displays Flash-based sites."

It's therefore understandable why so many users are confused and think something is wrong with their handset. Nothing in the above suggests a less-than full Flash experience, so why should users be expected to "research" rather than expect the advertised feature?

Haha what genuinely pathetic and unhelpful responses. I understand people that 'frequent' these forums can have low social skills, but low IQ too? - well that's a disappointment...

Adobe Flash / HTC Flash whatever. It's all Flash. How many other types of Flash exist on an HTC Hero? I'm sure m3star doesn't give a shit about the intricacies of which bit of software is written by whom, he just wants his phone to work the way it should, as I do.

And as kabbie_mcfeely put it so incorrectly:

No we can't do that, hence the thread.

    Idiots...

I agree. Perfectly reasonable question, perfectly reasonable thread. Unfortunately there are a number of people on here who get very het up about these things - sad really.

The whole purpose of these forums is to get more information. If you're not happy with noobs you'd be better off on ultra-nerd sites such as XDA developers.

P.S. I'm gutted the Hero can't do flash. What bloody good is it if you can't watch videos online?

    Enough!

Just so you all know, the Hero runs Adobe Flash version AFL 9.1.122.0. The reason it doesn't support ALL flash sites is because it's obviously not version 10.

Adobe Flash Lite is up to version 3.1, so AFL must designate the Linux version of Flash, or Academic Free License...who knows. But it's certainly not Flash Lite.

Flash 10.0 an flash capable would be different.. first half of 2010 Adobe says we will have Flash 10.0, I trust Adobe and their software.

I actually own an HTC Droid Eris phone...(very similar to the Hero) and as of 2 days ago, I am no longer able to view the majority of Youtube videos using the stock app on my phone. Some work in low quality and most do not work using High quality. What is interesting is that it used to work just fine up until 2 days ago when I got the OTA update..

Anyone with any suggestions or ideas as to why the Youtube videos are no longer working? Thinking it has something to do with HTC phones because others with the Eris (and Hero) have reported this issue.

i have a similar problem. cannot play youtube videos or any flash content on web pages. i understand the hero should have flash lite but apparently i don't. i've seen a couple videos online of hero reviews and these phones clearly had flash. for example, the reviewer would go to the htc site on their phone and the home page animation would play. any solutions? and please, serious responses from serious people. thanks guys.

Oh God guys, you haven't even a bit of respect to the topic creator. I mean c'mon, it's like everyone knows about technology like you all do. Don't showoff and criticize, if that's what you want, get off the forums, because here, we all respect everyone's point of views, and overall, respect the member. You haven't offered any of those.

Everyone has the right to ask about anything, you have no reason to attack him/criticize him.

I don't know if this is the cause of the problem for all of you, but it may help some of you. In your browser settings, you have to have Enable Javascript ticked in order for flash to run.

i know this isnt ideal but as a work around you can use dolphin browser (free in market) and it will rip youtube videos into mp4 format and store them on your mem card.

u can then watch them as many times as u like...

it works great ... i highly recomend britney spears "womanizer" in hd as a fine example of how good youtube vids can look on the hero...

My wife and I got identical Sprint htc Heroes at the same time. Originally, Adobe Flash (of some sort) was working on both our phones. It no longer works on mine, but works fine on hers. I can't even get the animation to work on the Adobe htc Hero test page or the Sprint htc Hero page. All I see is the "f!" logo. The enable Java checkbox is checked. Youtube is working fine. Could I have installed an app that corrupted Adobe Flash (light 3.1, I guess)? If so, can I reinstall it somehow without restoring factory defaults?

    Can somebody please help me?

Identical problem here... i.e. stuff that used to work no longer works!

Specifically videos on the BBC News website. iPlaye works fine, but not the short videos embedded on the news site.
