I noticed there is a free version of Advance Task Killer and a $5 version, what's the difference?

Bump I'd also like to hear the answer to this one ;)

I'm assuming though the advanced one lets you set up a schedule on when to kill things, like say every few hours kill *these* apps specifically. Or perhaps at night/end of day kill these apps to free up memory.

The free one, from what I've tested in store and seen other friends use, is more than sufficient, just a manual affair.

you dont even notice the adds. I have used the free version and paid. No diff. I now use the one that come pre-installed with a new Home app. Saves memory. lol
