I've had my Behold 2 for about 10 days. I still have a few days left to "trade" it in. Any thoughts? Should I? In general I like the phone and as this is my first Android experience I am pleased with the possibilities. I am concerned about being left behind at 1.5 with a phone that is barely a week old to me.

Wish I would have followed these pages prior to my purchase. But then again I'm sure there are similar rumblings with most other phones out there.

    Thanks for any advise.

Consider the MyTouch 1.2. More memory than the original and the 3.5mm jack. Along with the added benefit of more potential accessibility in regards to custom ROMs and future updates.

The only true advantage the Behold II has over an HTC Android device is the camera. I will say, I love mine but I still went back to the MT3G.

I have the Mytouch 1.2 as well and at times I find myself going back to the Behold II. It has way more internal memory and 1.6 is a lot better than 1.5 but the crappy camera and lack of an AMOLED screen is a turnoff. I also prefer the form factor on the Behold II, the MT3G has a nice hard rubber battery cover but the front is all plastic and it feels cheaply made. While the Behold has a nice brushed metal finish. Which makes it feel like a grown man's phone.

Both are great phones and the Mytouch has less bugs and quirks but if the Behold II could get an update, I'd probably get rid of the Mytouch. As of now that's the only thing holding back the Behold II.

    As far as speed goes

Behold II running Galaxy ROM > Mytouch 1.2 > Stock Behold w/touchwiz

EDIT - One thing the Mytouch blows away the Behold II in, is battery life. Whether rooted or not the Behold II battery life sucks while the Mytouch can go a few days with heavy usage.

These are great points and things to think about. Guess I'll give it a couple more days and see if the update makes a difference, if it comes out. It would seem all handsets have their issues and strengths.

Thank you to all for your thoughts!

i disagree completely. I have the Behold 2 running stock everything. it flies for me, and my battery life blows my old g2 and my buddys mytouch away. i heavily used it fo about 6 hours in my buddy's car and it didnt die.

stand by / light use i got two days out of it.

My experiences might differ because I refuse to run stock touchwiz. I normally go GDE with 7 pages loaded with apps and widgets and when compared to the mytouch 3G (also this is the new MT3G with more RAM and internal memory) running the same bulk, there's no contest when it comes to battery performance. Also, how long have you had the B2, because I noticed at first it runs rather smoothly but after a while it tends to get shoddy in the performance area.

my opinion, from what i see, you had a shoddy BH2 and are on a mission to prevent him or anyone else from getting one. I've had the phone long enough to know that its fine with me.

My BH2 battery will probably smack yours to the sunset. I played some 3d games for about 3 hours today waiting at the DMV, web browsed throughout the day, had calls and such, was charged to 100% this morning and im at 75% now.

Get the Behold II. You wont regret it.

If I have a shoddy Behold II then nearly 80% of the forum has one as well. Maybe you haven't noticed, but there are numerous threads floating around dedicated to poor battery performance. I already stated that this was a great phone otherwise so I don't know where you assumed the logic that I was trying to steer him away from the Behold II.

Trust me, you're in the minority when it comes to great battery life expectency. You must be running bare bones stock with hardly any 3rd party apps running because with that kind of usage, most others would be nearing 40-30%

I have to agree about the battery life. It sucks at the moment. I can't go a full day without the battery dying out. So i leave it on the charger when i'm driving around.

Anyways.. can't wait to get our update.. it suppose to fix the battery issue among a few other things.

But other than that.. the behold 2 kicks ass. Love the screen!!

So Tmobile.. roll out the update already!! :D

You actually use the cube? Dont get me wrong i love the screen, camera(after some adjustments),battery life etc, but i would prefer if touchwiz was a little faster and the cube seems like a serious waste. I think you are the only one who actually uses the cube.

Apart from that, one good update and the Behold will blow the mytouch away in every possible way

i dont always use the cube and i wouldnt say i LOVE it.

its nifty and fun to play with at times but i would have rather it been a widget rather than a full on hardware key.

Heres hoping, but doubtfully, samsung will let us remap it.

I also use it because i dont want it to feel like its wasted. Some dude thought it would be a good idea so i want to use it. =/ call me a sap.

I use the cube on a daily basis. (not saying its good or worthy of a dedicated button).
I just look at it this way it there i cant change it and its a shame to waste it. so for all media (except web) i just hit my cube button.

yeah yeah i know its easier and quicker to plop a short cut on the main screen. but why waste valuable screen real estate when you have a button that will never go away?

At current prices I would go for a Nexus one. IF you cant afford that, then you need to consider:

    Mytouch:
    - Greater chance of custom roms due to bigger community on xda-developers
    - Greater chance of official accesories etc
    - Slightly lower spec
    - Likely to get a 2.x official update
    - Community 2.x is not far away, if not done already

    Behold 2:
    - Highest amount of RAM in this class of android phone (it has 320mb, Hero has 288mb, mytouch has 192,256, or 288 (?) dependng on the version. Droid has 256mb. - Nexus one has 512mb)
    - We can now replace the kernel, and there is a community effort for getting 2.x on the galaxy which WILL be transferable to the behold 2, but isnt yet.
    - Likely to get an official 2.x update

Personally I wouldnt tie into a long contract for the behold 2 or the mytouch because they are already 1 class of phone behind. When the new iphone is out, and all the other 1 ghz phones this year, you'll start feeling a little anoyed. The Nexus One is only 179$ on T-Mobile, and thats not that much more than the behold 2 on contract.

Just my 2 cents, but I totally understand people have different needs and budgets.
