All apps syncing only one way?

    Hi everyone!

First of all, I would like to greet all members of Androidforums. I am new here. :)

I have a strange problem, and so far nobody has an explanation for it.

The problem is spotted in "Out of milk" app.
I have contacted their support and now I am pretty sure that the problem is in the device. I have tested the diary.com app, and noticed the same issue.

    I use HTC One X, CID_032, Android 4.0.4, Sense 4.1, Software number 2.17.401.2, SDK API level 4.23.

    The problem is this:

All changes I make in apps on the device are registered on the Web version of the apps (outofmilk.com, diary.com...). However, changes made on the Web are not registered in the device.

I have tested the Google Celendar. In this case, syncing is working both ways.

I have tried reinstalling the apps, and restarting the phone. No help.

I don't know if this is part of the same issue, but I may add that syncing with the Outlook also doesn't work, and that I haven't received yet the Jelly bean update, although many CID_032's at my phone operator already have it.

    The question:

Any suggestion why changes that I make on the web are not visible in my apps? Are there some phone settings I am not aware about? I have searched all over the settings.

    Thank you very much!

(I don't use the app, so I'm shooting from the hip here)

You could check the settings on your phone to see if Out of Milk creates an account the way Gmail or Facebook does. If so, you could try removing and readding it. You could also try emailing the dev(s) to see if you're overlooking something.

    Hi, thank you!

As far as I can tell, Out of milk does not create an account.

I have contacted the devs and they are puzzled. They say I am the first with that problem.

But the problem is not in the app. Other apps also sync only one way, (if there is a web version to sync with, like Diary.com). Only Google apps (like calendar) sync as they should.

Try using Evernote. It's free, and should sync both ways. You can create a note at Evernote.com and see if it shows up. Then create another one and check the web.

To clarify, use their app on your phone. I had a second thought as well: does HTC build any special/custom controls for managing your data? It can't hurt to double check around in your settings to confirm that background data hasn't been curtailed in any way either.

    Thank you for your reply!

Actually I have been using Evernote on a daily basis for many years now, but I forget to check if it works too that way. :D
Surprisingly, it does. It syncs both ways.

So the problem is in two apps, Out of milk and Diary.com.
Maybe there is some kind of conflict... I will try uninstalling the one and checking the other.
As for background data limiting, I have checked everywhere and can't tell that it is reduced in any way.

Since I haven't received the JB update yet (and I should have), I will take my warranty and take the phone to the service to update it. I hope that will solve the problem, but I will really like to know what went wrong. :)
