All my contacts were just wiped out. Uh What?

Something like this has just happened to me. My "phone contacts" have simply been wiped out all of a sudden. My Google, SIM and Facebook contacts are there but all 97 of my phone contacts are simply gone! It now shows phone (0). I thought I could sync back from Google but it appears all along they weren't even being synced even though my Google contacts sync was turned on, so I'm still left with nothing.

This is one of the most frustrating and ridiculous problems I've ever encountered on any phone. I rely almost entirely on my phone contacts, and I sure as hell do not want to start copying from my SIM all over again because I'd have to filter out so many unused contacts.

A contact needs to be saved on the phone as "google" in order to be synced. Contacts saved as "phone" are only stored on the phone and will be lost unless you use some other sort of backup app that saves them to SD.
