In the last few days my phones battery has been depleting sooooo fast. It might have been an app i updated or something but i have no idea what app it could be. If i restored an older nandroid back up will that help?

The reason i ask is because i never returned to a back up so i dont know what happens with the apps... do they revert to what they were when i backed up or do they stay updated?

A nandroid restore will bring your phone back to exactly the way it was when you backed up, meaning that all your apps will be the versions they were when you created the backup. The same goes for all your settings, etc. If you've installed anything new since then, keep in mind that you'll have to install it again. Titanium backup is your friend (batch backup/restore new apps and versions).

That being said, I would check a few things before doing that. Is your battery going down fast only while in use or even when sleeping? Install spare parts from the market, and check your partial wake usage since last unplugged after having the phone unplugged for several hours without a reboot. Start there.

and menu.settings.about phone.battery.what has been using the battery...you will see the chart with percentage graphs.

press standby and see what the time without signal has been

sometimes you can press android and it lists apps draining the battery/

and sometimes it will just drain faster than others ...I have had the worst battery life ever...down to 20% on a sprint extended today after less than 10 hours...but I have been doing much more than usual on it

How much of that time have you actually been using the phone? Have you rebooted the phone yet? Sometimes that fixes it if you haven't, BUT try out what we've suggested, first. If it fixes it, and you haven't checked anything yet, you'll never know what caused the problem until it happens again.

Hmm, well if you still have the problem, in addition to the other suggestions, you should install os monitor so you can see in real-time what is using the cpu.

I think i found the culprit... using spare parts i noticed that the "ebay" app started itself on boot up and runs in the background. i deleted the app and so far it doesnt seem like the battery is draining the way it was earlier.

I am glad you posted this...my battery life seemed odd today and I shrugged it off as being me toying with the new Rom (myn's)

turns out photobucket went ape and had been running (uploading every single pic in my phone) for over 4 hours

Cool, glad you found the problem. Spare parts is handy like that. I've had similar issues with things like maps holding a wake lock forever just like that.

Well, I'm not Mr. Ed, but I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. It's the best sense rom I've used. There are a lot of mods out there to customize it however you like. It have a very clean theme, and is very smooth and quick. Myn is also very responsive, hence the frequent updates.

EDIT: Wow, bad grammar on my part...

this...I have been rocking fresh since 3.1 I think...and switched to Myn's yesterday after a month of saying I was going to try it out. It blows fresh out of the water.

I feel like i have a weird loyalty to fresh because that was my first rom and it made my phone usable (my battery life before fresh was atrocious)... but i think i am convinced to give Myns rom a chance. Im going to install it this weekend.

I'm also a Fresh user who feels it's getting dated...and it's been a while since I've changed anything on my Evo. Mr. Ed, I know you've been a Fresh fan so the fact you've changed is probably my tipping point (which means I can blame you if things go wrong :) ). Couple of questions:

Where can I get the latest Myn ROM?

Of course I'll do a nandroid backup, clear the cache and dalvik, and backup all my apps and data before applying. I'm a big user of Folder Organizer, will I have to set up all my folders again? When I updated to Fresh from stock, I had to reinstall folders even though I had backed everything up.

Any gotchas with Myn? Does 4G work? Bluetooth?

Finally, can someone post a screen shot so I can see what a typical Evo will look like with Myn?

    Thanks, all...

Oh, and do you use the Myn kernel, or did you flash netarchy...if so, which version?

I tried updating my ROM to latest Myn's over the weekend, but had to nandroid restore back to Fresh 3.4. Here are the issues I found:

Titanium Backup does NOT seem to restore all my apps and settings as advertised. This is a problem I've had before. For example, contact links, SMS, folders in Folder Organizer, widgets...lots of little things. To be fair, I was not using the paid version...I've upgraded to the paid version of Titanium and may give it another try. I've also noticed that Folder Organizer has an import/export function, may try that too. But it's such a royal pain to get folders and widgets back to the way I want, it doesn't seem worth the trouble unless there's a huge upside.

More troubling than the above, I noticed that after I updated the ROM I started to get random reboots (I was running netarchy 4.1.9 no HAVS with my Fresh 3.4, not sure if Myn's ROM updates that kernel or not). I have always had problems with stability on my Evo, not willing to give an inch in that category! I'm certainly willing to try different kernels, but again not unless there's an upside, which brings me to...

I didn't see any big upside. Believe me, I wanted to love it, but I really didn't see any significant differences in smoothness or functionality (that is, when it wasn't rebooting). Like many people, I generally test this simply by scrolling around from page to page, or up and down in my apps list...in fact, if anything, Fresh 3.4 was smoother and faster. I get quadrant scores of 1,300+ using Fresh, didn't test with Myns.

So, for now I will probably stay put, unless someone can point out some upside to Myns that I'm not seeing. Is there functionality buried in there that I don't get with Fresh? For example, I saw in one post that Hulu was included in Myns...is that true, and if so does it work well?

Myn's rom contains the HTC #17 kernel, but you can try flashing the netarchy over the top of it if you'd like.

In Titanium Backup, I believe you need to backup and restore system data along with the apps in order to keep the things you mentioned. I'm not familiar with Folder Organizer, but I'm assuming it's a "file explorer" for your SD card? If so, the ROM shouldn't overwrite any modifications to the SD card directory structure, so that seems odd.

I did choose the "apps + system data" option. I've done that before when I originally went to Fresh. Titanium doesn't always seem to do everything it's supposed to (again, this is a comment limited to the free version). Last time I flashed a ROM, I noticed that Titanium didn't restore all of my apps. I always use MyBackup Pro in addition to Titanium just in case.Folder Organizer is a way to organize your folders and apps, it's really more of a desktop/GUI. It is a paid market app. It kind of mimics the iPhone interface. In any case, it's a real pain to restore, although the import/export may get me there. So, what do I get with Myns that is significantly better than Fresh? I saw a few posts back that Myns "blows Fresh out of the water"...how so?

I think its the neat little things that make Myns rom nice. For instance i like all the options when i hold down the power button... I like the widgets in the notification pull down. I like how i can choose what apps the rosie buttons launch. Im sure there are more things that are included that i havnt noticed just yet because i have only been using it since yesterday.

I know some of these features can be obtained through themes but its nice to have everything already in a neat package.

One thing that i am not loving so far is the battery life i am getting. I think i am going to test the phone out for a few days then im going to switch kernals and see what happens from there.

If after tweaking settings and messing with different kernals doesnt fix my battery issues i am going to flash back to a working Fresh nandroid i have.

Dude, you say you are not using the paid version of Ti backup then it won't do a batch backup/restore. And you actually have to command it to back things up...it doesn't do it automatically. And when you bring your phone back up, you have to do a batch restore. The "batch" option is only available on the paid version. ANd after you do it, you still have to reboot afterwards. Anyway, the main reason for buying the Pro version is for the Batch option. It is worth every penny.

    I agree with this 100%

Switching to Myn from Fresh was a breeze using the batch option. It was pretty much set it and forget it.
