Root Already rooted?

Hi all
So I bought a secondhand desire 2 weeks ago and I've been reading about rooting and flsahing customs roms (although I'm currently to nervous to try doing it) and what not, and while doing that I saw something about superuser permissions. I already have this in my app drawer does that mean my desire is already rooted?

yes and no, it could have been rooted by a method that just gives root level access for apps and busybox, its not the same.

to find out if you are truely rooted do the following

power down the phone
hold voldown+power till a white screen comes up
use voldown to select "recovery" and press the power button to select it
it should take you to either "clockworkmod recovery" or "amonRA recovery"

if it doesnt and takes you to a screen with a triangle then you are not properly rooted and only at software level superuser

Did that and it took me to clockworkrecovery mod, so apparently I bought a rooted phone! Thanks for your help.
