Finally got it to work. Looks like they are just getting hammered server wise.
The free app of the day is Zenonia 2. Every time I try to download it, it always fails to complete the purchase. Is anyone else having this issue?
No, but it took me 2x.
Honestly I don't mind the fragmentation and It's not like I use either app store exclusively. I mean if you're going to sideload apps anyway, why not just have an alternate app store. This is a good thing for consumers, now we can price match apps to see where our best deals are. It's a win win for everybody, at least for those in the States.
It won't let me either... After trying a couple of times, I got a message saying there is a known error with the HTC EVO on the Sprint Network and it says I should contact Sprint...what phone are you using? Even trying over WiFi I get the error saying there was a problem trying to purchase it.
It took me several times to get it download. Just spam the buy app button and it will eventually work.
Yeah, I have been having the same problem with it all day.
Same problem here.
im having problems with it today too...
anyone know if I can pull the apk of the amazon app store and install it on my wifi only droid 1? when I try to get it it asks for a phone number which I dont have for that device (its my test device)
You should be able to, you can also provide amazon an email address to send the link to the apk. I contacted amazon and they said you can have multiple devices registered to the same account. Just make sure you sign in with the same info and it shouldn't be an issue.
No one is forcing you to use any of them. Do you only shop at one grocery store? One clothing store? One drug store? I don't understand how choice equals fragmentation.
I was able to buy it through the Amazon app store via the web, then from the phone I could download it. Seems like Zenonia 2 is getting hammered on the Amazon reviews, not because of the app quality, but because Amazon's servers were wonky today. Too bad.
Amazon isn't avaliable in canada glad it made me go through the full set up before mentioning it.
Gotta love the intelligence of the internet.
Downloaded fine for me. I'm guessing the Amazon server problems are gone now?
Anyway, the free app a day thing Amazon does on its market is an awesome idea. And the best part about it is that they've actually be supplying some pretty great apps, like this one for example. Can't wait to dig deep into it.
I think zenonia brought in a lot of new people who weren't interested in Angry Birds.
My problem is that the appstore launches itself if it's not running. I have tested it multiple times. If you see it running and go into applications management and force stop it it'll shut down for a while then, a while later, it will open back up and be running in the background again. Even if you never launched a single app in the meantime.
I just tested it again while reading this thread. In the time it took me to read the whole thread I force-stopped the amazon store app at the start of the thread and by the time I started posting this reply, sure enough, it's running again. Chewing up approximately 10mb of memory.
I don't mind it being used as DRM but if I'm not running an app that I downloaded through them (I'm not, I only have 1 app purchased and it was angry birds) then there should be no reason whatsoever for the app store to be launching itself in the background. DRM or no DRM it has no business tossing itself active every little while and, I'm sure, hitting my internet connection.
Since installing the app store I've noticed that I have about 10-15% less battery life as well. So the hit isn't insignificant.
I've uninstalled it to save myself battery time. Just not worth keeping it installed if it's going to constantly launch itself in the background. I'm assuming it is also pinging the web for DRM information when it does that.
Yeah I would have to agree. Zenonia is closer to a handheld console gaming experience than angry birds
Anyone know if an Amazon store spoof has been created yet, so that amazon downloads can be run without the appstore?
Apps protected with DRM. Removing the DRM would allow you to run them without the appstore. However this would make them cracked apps and if you can't access the appstore and install them they would be warez which can't be discussed here.
Pewpew 2 is today app....
never heard of it.....
YouTube - PewPew 2 Android Game Review
Pew Pew 2 is one of my favorites! It's old-school hard.
I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth but is anyone else getting a wee bit tired of all these free games?
It seems like 85% of the freebies are all games.
I'd just like to see a little bit more variety.
