If you are using a task killer, select those that you don't want running and place them on an auto kill list. Or don't run a task killer and the OS will close them itself.
I kill all these apps at least 20 times a day using quick system info and or advanced task manager. They do not stay killed!
As to your claim that the OS will kill these automatically. If that was the case, Which it is not, then what part of the phone (OS, hardware) etc.. Would you claim is STARTING them Automatically?
Iv'e said it before, there is to much misinformation spread on forums about Androids ability to manage apps.
Everyday on this forum and others, somebody claims Android can automatically turns off apps when they are not needed or in use. I have found this to be 100% inaccurate. Before I go to sleep I Kill all apps. And every morning when I wake up there are about a dozen apps and processes running.
No apps on my phone are set to auto update and or retrieve info with out manually refreshing them. And yet, the programs I never use - Amazon mp3, Messages, My uploads, Voice Dialer etc. will all turn on automatically and Android Never turns them off. This happens after I manually kill them and or force stop them. So much for the theory about Android being able to do this on it's own.
On a side note, the awake time of the phone has been fluctuating greatly. When I first installed 2.1, If i killed all the apps and put the phone to sleep, even after 8+ hours, the phone awake time would only change by about 1 minute. Now, it stays on all the time.
It seems the longer the phone is on with out a reboot, the less chance the phone has of going into true sleep mode. So one or more of these unwanted apps, that Android is claimed to be able to manage, is some how turning itself on and keeping the phone from sleeping. Which in turn is making my battery drain 25+% overnight when it should be sleeping. I have tetsed this leaving 3G on and off, even putting the phone in Airplane mode! and still the same outcome.
Any ideas would be appreciated
