Your point is still made moot by Right of Conquest. No way around it. That area no longer belonged to the Palistinians. It was the property of the Allied forces, before that the Axis forces and before that the British Crown before that the Ottoman Empire. It has changed hands so many times under right of conquest that there is no basis for a Palistinian claim.

Non of which changes the absolute in the situation that the Palestinians had long been conquered and under the rules of war accepted at that time those lands and every last thing in them short of claiming people as property, belonged to the Victor. According to the League of Nations in 1913? what is now Israel belonged to the UK not the Palestinians.

The rightful occupants of that land are the Israelis because they are who it was given to when every where was divided up as spoils after WWII. Dislike the fact they gave the Palestinians the boot. But their right to exist as a Nation is above questioning. After what they had just been through in Europe because of European political ideology Damn right the Allied Countries gave them their own place, the one they asked for.

As for an International mandate if you remember correctly the Uk was in a terrible fight with the Germans, what people over your way seem to forget was it was a losing fight. The bulk of the work was done by the US and Canada with a strong resistance in occupied territory. The international mandate you speak of was our freakin Idea as was giving back the lands we slaughtered and died for like France and Italy to their people. Those weren't European decisions to be made. Churchill might have got his ego massaged for the news reels but they had taken the most damage and brought the least to the table in everything except claims. 1 of 4 main players in the decision process.
