Here's my 1st post, glad to be here. I'm thinking of moving away from windows to Android but I'd like to ask: since the N1 has wi/fi n & the Desire doesn't my leanings are towards the N1, so many bad words are being said 'bout the Galaxy S, so I ask, "what Android phone would be for me while using TMO as my carrier?" Thanks for listening & I hope you can direct me. Thx.

Ok firstly i'm guessing your in the UK right? otherwise you would have to wait a while for the Galaxy S anyway, I am getting my Galaxy S next week what "bad words" are being said? and i would'nt take too much notice if i was you especially considering apart from singapore it has'nt been released yet and most people are just bad-mouthing it because of bad previous experiences with Samsung phones.

Secondly your gonna have to be more specific as too what you want to use the phone for and what features you want etc for someone to best help you decide between those 3 phones.

those complaints are quite valide tho' as it's no the phones that have been the problem, but samsung's appalling customer service

Well not really not on a brand new phone that has'nt even come out in europe or america yet. I have had bad previous experience with HTC but that has'nt put me completely off their phones just that it was out of the HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S for my next phone and the samsung has alot more advantages and features.

If were talking about the Samsung Behold 2 situation and how it never got upgraded to android 2.0 or 2.1 well it got 1 update 1.5 to 1.6 which is no difference from when i had the HTC T-mobile G1 it did start off on 1.0 because it was the first android phone but from 1.0 to 1.4 was like beta software so really it also only got 1 decent update 1.5 to 1.6, So how is that any better than the samsung?.

the g1 is a year older than the behold 2 (or galaxy), it started out at 1.0 and got updated to 1.6 - the samsungs started at 1.5 and got updated to 1.6
you don't see that as worse?

in any case, it's as much about the lack of communication as it is about the lack of updates

Does the wireless n issue actually affect you? N routers still broadcast on g and sometimes b frequencies as well. If you have an n home router, you can still use your Desire to connect to it.

Versions 1.0 to 1.4 were pretty much like beta software so really it only got 1 decent update 1.5 to 1.6.

So these 2 phones are no different from the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S just that they start on 2.1 and will get 2.2 before the year is out.

As for lack of communication Samsung has already said the Galaxy S will get Froyo 2.2 and thats before the phone is even avaliable to buy so thats pretty good communication if you ask me.

At the end of the day though people should still buy a phone for how it is and what it does at the time and not as in how good it "could" be if it got updated.

Thank you everyone. OK here goes: I've been all the way up through Sprint to the Pre, maybe I'm temperamental but the customer service was so bad I left there.
No I live in the USA. I would like to have n simply b/c of my location, terrible recept. I have an ATT wireless modem (6.0) & with all my reading I thought that n was the only way to get wi/fi calling. I'm not wanting wi/fi for just data. I've been with TMO a little bit, (8520, HD2 & 2- 9700)(the sim card was bad w/the 1st 9700 & the 2nd one showed me the screen was too small.) At my age I'm trying to learn what the proper phone will be for me eyes & hands. I've found AndroidPolice which is showing me how to operate the Android in complete manners (rooting, ROMs...). the Nexus one is old now & I think the Desire doesn't have n.
When it comes to the bad words w/Samsung, yes as said others have had bad times with they're Samsung phones (OK maybe it's true they're just hard luck stories). I watched the video when the Samsung Galaxy S was announced & I have to re-check the S has n. n is the 1st thing that must come w/the phone. Good processor (snapdragon) & battery are the next needs for the phone. If I have to learn Virtual, OK but I learned w/a qwerty.
I'm reading what you post & am very thankful, you're actually very good teachers :)
I hope this reply helps to clear up my question & I hope your suggestions return. Thx, I appreciate it.

Ther's one more thing I've had many other phones besides these listed: perse, I've had the behold & I'd have to go through all my old phones to list. Thx.
