Samsung has been stating Q1/2010. I doubt they are going to push it earlier then that.

Samsung says the phone is compatible, and ready to go for 2.0... just waiting on T-mobile to allow the release.

It's been that way since the phone came out, but I assume Samsung has to actually do the software side of it, coding the patch, making sure it has the right drivers, bug testing, etc... unless that's T-Mobile's job.

I talked to Samsung engineers and they said they want the users to be more involved with the features they wanted on the phone. They said to send them emails. I'm not sure this will work or not but it is worth a shot. Samsumg needs to know what we expect from an Android phone.

I say we visit them in person. Let's just whip out our Androids and use Google Maps Navigation to get turn by turn directions to their... OH WAIT, WE CAN'T.

If they are truly interested in improving the phone, they should monitor sites and threads such as these. It's standard biz practice these days. I think that the users have enough on their hands trying to find work-arounds for Sammy's glitches. The LEAST they could do is follow their users online to get real world reaction to their product. What they will get here will go much farther in helping them to make their product one that people will be loyal to.

Frankly, if they don't hurry up, they may lose a lot of customers to NexusOne come January then, this topic will be more or less a moot point. They know the drill. It will be Craigslist and eBay from that point forward if they don't keep this puppy up to snuff.

If Samsung is really smart, they will assign a Social Liaison to monitor all the major Android sites where the Behold2 has a Thread/User Group. On DSLReports.com, the major ISP's have liaisons who field questions and issues (read: Do damage control) in the forums. That's how you get to the real opinions... and it goes a long way to show that the company cares about its customers. We have a community here at Phandroid. It behooves Samsung to beat a path to Phandroid's door. ;)

I'd like to think that Samsung cares enough about its user base to address our issues, but the truth is that most of us are going to be with locked in to this phone for 2 years.

Some people see the advantage of taking the "hit" on early termination ($200) and moving on with a "possible" free Google phone. As I've said before, we know that Google does Wi-Fi for free so, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to see them offering a Carrier-free unlocked phone at some point.

I heard that the Google phone may be invitation-only ala GV/GW. So, Behold2 may have a window of opportunity to fix the glitches and hold onto its customer base. Since according to user opinion, the only real problems seem to be related to their proprietary TouchWiz, Sammy should wise up and give the people what they want...ANDROID... not Android w/issues, LOL

I fail to see how that would work. There has to be an ISP somewhere in the mix for there to be Wi-Fi. The only place Google offers free WiFi is in Mountain View, CA. Supposedly we were suppose to get it here in SF, but I think its dead in the water at this point. A cell phone that only works when in range of a Wi-Fi signal that you have access to pretty much kills the whole point of having a cell phone... so you have to have a plan with a carrier. An unlocked GSM phone that will work with either T-Mobile or AT&T seems the most likely scenario. (Admittedly, if they go the VOIP only route, it seems like a good deal when you consider that for $40 a month T-Mobile has a unlimited no-voice data plan).

I'm not sure what GV/GW is.

They should do something, this is a nice phone that's getting bad press because of only have 1.5 and TW. Unless they do something I don't think its going to be a successful product.

I agree, Fallen. Behold2 is a beautiful phone that has been crippled. They absolutely can do something about that!

    off topic

As far as i can tell the behold 2 has been an underdog. It has had many bad review but still finds customers that will give it a try. This is my second behold. I had the first gen behold(not that great) .I Had expected tmobile to push the behold more this time around. More advertising would have help .Also redesigning the touch wiz. 2.0 android would have help if released with this phone from day one. Hopefully tmobile will get on the ball and release 2.0 in January .People that i know have not heard of the behold 2 like they have heard about the mytouch . This is tmobile fault and they need to fix it .

The Behold 2 is a beauty of a phone IMHO. There is nothing wrong with it that an update cant fix. It simply has software issues, which are fixable in the next OS release. I feel that they tried to make the Behold2 Android a Windows-like environment...which was not necessarily a good thing.

There are many things that I like about the phone such as the beautiful display, the great camera, the best media player on Android etc. But the Cube? Now that is a face only a 1980's mother would love. It's useless and annoying. They could offer more (better) wallpaper but one can always download that from The Market. They need to tweak TouchWiz so that it isn't laggy. But that Cube is a waste.

They can push out a free upgrade to Android 2.0 and make the necessary changes to speed the Behold 2 up and it would be perfect. All eyes are on Samsung to see if they want to hold onto their fans.

You do know about buyers remorse correct? You are allowed 14 days to return the phone. Though I dont know if it also applies to the plan.
