In December 2011 Verizon released the Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread update for Samsung Fascinate phones.

Did you update your phone? Are you happy with the update?
Did it solve the freezing and lockup problems for you?

Mod: I searched the forums for this topic and found none specifically addressing my topic.

    Comments please.

I tried going back to stock to get this update. When I did, my auto-updated wouldn't work. It kept coming back with a "500" error. I ended up just putting back the Powerwashed GB Rom.

Are you experiencing any lock-ups or freezing of your Fascinate? I'll look at the Powerwashed GB Rom.

I was happy with it at first but performance and reliability degraded over time; once it started freezing, rebooting and me doing so many factory resets (Verizon's advice) I was looking at paying full price for a new phone.

I figured a replacement ROM at this point couldn't hurt so tried a stock GB. This corrected the issues, but now the ROM bug had taken hold again.

    Why not ICS?

Did a LOT of reading and decided to try THS Port for fascinate Build 9 (its up to 13 now). This is the OS the Fascinate should have been given to begin with. I've been running it four months now; everything works the way its supposed to and is fast doing so (hardware acceleration). The only thing I wish for now is 4G.

    Good luck!

Truthfully, it's the only one I've tried so far. To have everything working the way I expect smoothly and quickly trumps my urge to tinker. I had an OG Droid that I still miss sometimes, but just because it was so much fun to experiment with.

The Fascinate with GB (initially) ran circles around the Droid with GB and overclocked. With this build of ICB and the kernel that came with it, haven't even thought about overclocking.... yet :p

2.3.6 offline update.zip anywhere? Still have a device without a data plan attached (wifi only device) and would like to update. Let me know if links to offline anywhere :)
