After updating to Froyo (Manual Update.zip method), the stock internet browser crashes on load of MULTIPLE sites....including Android forums here.

It loads up a little bit of it...you see some sign of loading...than before it fully loads...CRASH, just closes itself down. This is also true for most of any other forums I visit with the phone. I also noticed a crash from other sites as well. What's the deal? I tried clearing all my history, cookies, etc. on the browser...also tried a couple of battery pulls.

    NOTE:
Dolphin Browser HD does not have this behavior....but I would much prefer to continue using Stock browser (It is WAY faster now). ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE.

    UPDATE:
In short, it seems most flash DOES NOT work. Whats the deal?

This was supposed to be identical. It did not wipe my phone like the other methods. It did the same thing the OTA would do....install Froyo without wiping my phone.

The manual update.zip method is pretty much like the OTA. As such, most if not all of your problems are probably being caused by incompatibilities: which might be fixed with a factory reset. It's something to consider at least.

PS: Using the RUU and stock browser I have yet to crash out, and I have yet to find any flash that does not work ( though I've hulu is a no-go ). As such, it sounds like your problems are not specifically Froyo.

The one thing I liked about RUU is that it completely wiped out the phone and started witha fresh install, I compare it to wiping out your hard drive and installing Win7 from scratch. Update.zip is like upgrading from Win Vista to Win 7. While it is ok to upgrade, you may bring all the problems of the previous os to the upgrade.

That's exactly the same way I describe it, and a big part of why I recommend a wipe:) With a 300+ page changelog, tens of thousands of apps, hundreds of little settings...you know something is bound to have hiccups with the update. In the long run, a fresh start will almost surely save you from a major headache when dealing with major changes like this.

How did you download it from the internet? When I find it on the Market I get this message:
"The requested item could not be found"

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    **UPDATE*
    Solution found:
I found out...for whatever reason, the Update.zip DID NOT update my Adobe Flash Player...it was still set at a version earlier than 10.1.92.8. I found an APK link in XDA forums to the latest Adobe Flash...installed that....now everything works like I want it to....Perfectly. I love 2.2 now

Possible reason for Update.zip not installing Adobe Flash:
This is a sidenote....a while back on the forums, someone posted an APK to a new version of Adobe Flash (leaked?)....I downloaded/installed that. Ever since, I had been getting strange update errors from Market about it. Maybe this is a possible cause.
