I have recently been getting notifications of failed downloads of apps that I did not ask for. the app names are "Cool Sex facts", "Love Text", and "Porn Movies Private".

When I select one of them, "Love Text" for instance, it shows me the android market entry for a different app that I already have installed, like "Speedtest.net"

What's up

I have a stock, non-rooted G1

Have you done a factory restore to see if that wipes it out? (Assuming there is Android malware...)

Not yet. I just did a wipe last week to fix a downloading issue.

Thinking about it a little more, if it was malware, why does it not succeed in downloading? Also, why when I select the "download unsuccessful" message doe it take me to a completely different app that I've installed (Facebook, Transdroid, etc.)?

It's very weird.

I can understand both really.

No downloads, similar to the way bad programs won't let you install virus-detectors to get rid of the programs themselves.

Re-directing you to buy crappy programs that make the malware dev mo money.

I'm hoping that I'm wrong, no matter what, of whether this is malware or not.

Welcome to open source! I have had similar issues. Pain in the ass for sure.
