I have been locating and creating icons and rearranging the phone most of the day, thrilling. Not so thrilled with my fonts though. I have EZ fonts but have not yet figured how to copy or export to Gimp to create the text with EZ Fonts. EZ won't allow a right click copy and the file button has only "exit" as it's option. Any thoughts?

    II Kings:

Yeah, don't use "EZ Fonts" to try and integrate the text into an image editor. Do that right in GIMP. Programs like "EZ Fonts" are only for cataloging and not for actual font use. Just make a note of the font you find in EZ and select it in the "Fonts" box in GIMP.

    Hope this helps!

That does help, thanks. What I found in EZ that I liked was not an option in Gimp (mayhap it is avail in Photoshop). I think your fonts are superb, which one do you use and I'll see if they are in Gimp. I am going to attach a sample of what I have done so far, screen shots are pending.

Edit: thanks again to you for putting me in touch with Excedio who hooked me up on how to do these pics in Gimp.

I didn't install EZ Fonts to find out how it works, but it looks like you have to "activate" any fonts that came with the software in order to use them. A different way would be to find where EZ is storing its inactive fonts and just copy the ones you want into the system fonts folder- Windows will install them automatically when you do that. Then it should come up in any program (you may have to close and reopen a program if you add a font while it's open).

For my icons I used one of my most favorite fonts that I discovered while I was in school: Agency Free Font - FontStock. Now, there are two versions of this font on the internet, so just use this link to get the right one. Also, this is a small-caps font and all of my icons are written in all-caps with a point size of 36 and the tracking set to +25.

No problem for this. I, too, would like to thank Excedio for his help in expanding this "theme" even further.

Is nobody bothered by the fact the razorsharp images you've made are being blurred no matter what by Desktop Visualizer?

I have a HTC Hero and measured the exact sizes making screenshots, made the exact correct images, and they are blurred. Even though they are still the exact size of the images I made. Making a new screenshot and putting the images over eachother reveals that indeed they are the same but one is blurred.

Looking at the screenshots here, you guys have the same issue.

But perhaps I'm just whining too much. :S

Is there anyway to simulate the smooth scrolling of WP7, as opposed to the default discrete screen divisions?

I have to ask, is it not a case of being able to download a ready made package of win 7 theme like above, Simply because im not that up to scratch with customisation of android (Im a newbie!)

Mine are clear on my Fascinate. I swiped one Gmail icon that was blurry but it seemed blurry as posted. I sharpened it up in Paintshop and it looks good. That was easier than doing my own at the time, although creating is pretty easy now that I know how to do it.

    Hope this works

From my Epic 4g. I used the template paulsmz posted (and his GSP Beatiful Widget clock skin. I tried tinkering around with the sizes of the templates to better fit my screen, but I could never get it right, so I just stuck with what he had. I used ShootMe to take the screenshots.

All of those images are the actual widgets for a phone with a 320 x 480 resolution.

As long as this is the resolution of your phone, just right-click on each icon, save them to your computer, then copy them to your phone.

    Original post: 50's Icons

Eventually, I will make these for phones with a higher resolution... when I get the time.

I did notice an image quality difference when I started this theme. I quickly ruled out anything that I was doing wrong and just accepted the fact that the software was the problem.

The most recent version of Desktop Visualizer added a new setting: Desktop Visualizer Update v. 1.1.1 Image Quality Setting

inored: I also want to make sure that you are aware that the Hero has a screen resolution of 320 x 480... there's only so much clarity you can get out of that.

This looks good. About the icon spacing: the heights of your icons looks correct, but the widths don't make sense. The only two things I can think of that would be causing this are:

    1. Make sure you're using the correct image dimensions (your phone looks like a resolution of 480x800, so the image dimensions for the Incredible should work).

    2. Make sure you have the "Auto-Fit Items" option checked in LauncherPro's "Homescreen Settings".

Thanks for the plug! Look for other skins I've created for Beautiful Widgets.

I'm not sure what you mean by "smooth scrolling", but keep in mind this is just an aesthetic arrangement of icons that is still locked into the standard behaviors of the operating system. This "theme" was created to only mimic the look of the WP7 phones... the functionality is a completely different story.

So, in answer to your question: no, there is no "smooth scrolling" possible (at least as far as I am capable of producing). Also, for now, there are no "living tiles" widgets, either (but I'm looking into figuring out ways to mimic this... or write widget apps from scratch... I'm not that good at code, though).

You don't see that the text is all blurry?

Example of images posted by another user:

This is a combination of a part of the screenshot provided, but one half I replaced with the original source-image that was provided as well. Note that the source was the exact correct size, the same as it ended up on the desktop, but it's still more blurry.

I mean in the text you can actually see the line between sharp and blurry. See how the N is razorsharp and the at the end R is blurry crap? (the R in the middle is half-and-half)

That newsone there though I'm not too happy with the image, want the screens to show bit more so may go back and crop original to bring the screens bit closer.

    Will work on it tonight.
