Android RC30 Updates Your G1

San diego here, still runnin rc 19, what's the deal? I never hook up my phone to my computer, do u think that if I did it might somehow help my odds of getting this damn update? I can't stand this. And one more thing, if the G1 and android OS really wanna put some heat on the iphone, win the race to flash so we can finally watch some vids. Still don't get why we don't have it

I'm in Georgia and just got my OTA RC-30 update this morning.

Same here mate, nobody has been able to tell me yet what the difference is..... I have emailed T-Mobile but no reply yet.

Likewise, It seems the UK variant have a slightly different version so it will be interesting to ee if and when we get an update as to what it actually is.

Just read on one of my rss feeds in Reader that in the UK we can expect RC8.

Our friends across the pond seemingly have started receiving a new RC8 firmware update for their UK based T-Mobile G1 smartphones. According to Talk Android, the update appears to be pretty much the same as the USA

You might as well do it manually for Rc29..do a search for the thread, its simple. I bet youll get RC 30 within a day of upgrading.

After updating manually from RC19-->RC29, it took 2 days for RC30 to come.
Oddly, I had the best battery life on RC19. But it's still okay.

UK G1 Users - it's 1am and my device just received a system update Build No is confirmed as TC5-RC8

I am also in the UK and am finally on TC5-RC8

I had the update arrive ota this morning but I accidentally pressed the back button which canceled the update

I managed to get the update by creating an "any cut" shortcut to device info, then selecting check for updates. Couple minutes after that i then had the update ready message again, making sure this time to not press back!

First impressions are good! Best bit being that internet speeds have gone from averaging around 400 to averaging around 1100!
