I Have the Sprint Hero... A really Awesome phone. However, is it a programing issue or a operating system issue that all the apps run from the main memory, and you can't run apps from the memory card?

I keep running out of memory... how can I avoid this problem?

    Thanks
    CJ

Get the Advanced Task Killer for free from the market it will kill all threads that are running in the background, all your games and stuff.

I inderstand exactly what your saying. You should be able to save your apps to your memory card. I have a 16Gb card in my Hero, and I cant put apps on it. Thats crazy. I have the " Advanced Task Killer". Its a nice app, but still does not answer our question.

The reason you cant put the apps on the SD card is due to security, lets take this for exapmle:

You bought an app and yo uput on your sd card and now you put that sd card in your friends Hero or any other Android phone and now you transfered the app over to him and he did the same to his friend and so on, and you only payed $1.99 for this app and now 20 people have it and the developer lost money, and there are other things that yo uhave take in to account. but this is the biggest one, when i had my Blackberry every app i bought was registered to my PIN so even if i gave my sc card to friend he could not use my apps cause he has a different PIN #, with Android there are no PIN #'s. But there is a way for Android to make it possible to have something of the same instead of the PIN they can use the phone serial # but that will take some work.

I can't remember if its possible yet, but if you can root the hero, you can get apps to sd card.

However there are plenty of apps on market to backup purchased apps to .apk files on the memory card and restore them in the same manner. A search of any torrent site for "android" will yield hundreds of paid apps that can be installed using the bundled HTC Sync software with no license check whatsoever. If DRM is truly the reason behind not being able to run apps from the memory card, it's not working as intended and is only going to make the Hero quickly seem dated as other Android phones with 8gb+ of internal storage hit the market.

    Alright... Good conversation and Information!

Now who knows someone at Google that might be able to start pushing this type of update to android up the chain of command? ... Anybody?

Being able to install a 32 GB card, doesn't help a whole lot when you can't install and run Apps from it. I had the HTC Touch Pro before, and the Windows operating system did allow Apps to be installed and run from the memory card.
