Android Tablet displaying half keypad

I'm trying to help my friend who has an Android tablet. There is a pin number that needs to be entered when the device turns on, but the keypad that appears is only the bottom half of a keypad. It only shows 7 8 9, 0, and "ok". You can't select numbers 1-6, so I cannot sign in. I have a picture of it, but I can't post it since I just registered here and can't post pictures yet. I'm calling the device a tablet, but it is in Chinese and I really can't tell much about the model. It has 4 buttons on the side (Volume up, volume down, back, power), and 4 ports on the bottom (headphones, sd card, usb, power supply). Any ideas as to how to fix it so the whole keypad displays?

i moved you over to the android lounge for some help.

what happens when you try to unock the tablet in landscape mode? i have seen keyboards fix itself by doing that sometimes.

other then that i have no idea, never really dealt with a chinese tablet before.

moving it to landscape, the keypad moves to the upper right of the screen, but still only displays the bottom half.
