Excellent! I presume it uses the built-in mono mic. Does any android phone have the ability to plug in better mics?

Really excited for your app, but it appears the download links are dead...?? or maybe it's just not released yet..

either way, we need a GOOD audio recorder out there. Looks promising!! :D

I am looking forward to this one. Couple it with an external mic and it would be awesome. I wonder if it can run at the same time as recording video?

The links are to the market, so you have to click the links from your phone. Or search for hifi in the market.

@Juneau ah okay I see. I'm on the Eris and running 1.5... is that going to make a difference for HiFi being available in Market for me? I'm getting zero results no matter how I search for it.

It is probably not available for 1.5 if not on the market for you.

Hunterp -- I have a question and a comment for you.

    1) What versions of Android to you support? I, too, cannot find your app on the Android Market. I use a Motorola Cliq, which for now, is running Android v 1.5.

    2) Recommend you add to your first post one of the little square bar-code/dot-code items that will allow folks to scan it and then go directly to YOUR APP on the Android Market. Many other developers do this and I think you get more customers by making it easier to find and link to.

    Cheers.

Does this app even exist any more???

It appears that hunterp has disappeared from the Android Forum.

My apologies in advance for bumping this...again...

but honestly, I think this app is such a great idea. Something with a sound quality that Hertz provides but with compression and flexibility to use it with programs like RingDroid and everything sounds like a goldmine...

If the OP is dead and HiFi is dead... I'm sounding the call for someone to develop a similar app!! I'd be happy to test :p

Just installed HiFi... seems to work as promised, though the VU meter doesn't appear to do much.

Now I need a good quality external mic. Any suggestions? The built-in mic on my Droid Incredible is hardly incredible!

Still looking for a good quality external mic for audio recording. Assuming the maker of this app has done some testing, got any hardware suggestions?

The Blue Mic company makes some good external mics for the iPhone and iPod Touch but what about Android-based phones???

I'm wondering this myself. I am a musician and record my private lessons. I was hoping I could use my Sony Condenser Mic. It has a 1/8" plug, but it doesn't have the contacts that my headset has. The headset has I guess what they call a TRRS plug.

I looked and found this and this. I got the second one and will definitely report on it when it comes in. I can't wait to be able to use my phone as a Hi-Fi audio recorder.

@Coolbone, did the adapters work? how are the recordings?

I got the adapter, which works. I'm having an issue with the Voice Dial app popping up when I plug the mic in, though. And there's some noise on the recordings. This probably isn't the app's fault...just poor insulating by the phone manufacturer. Overall the process of recording on my Droid Incredible is more clunky thank using my iPod Touch. I have a Blue Microphones Mikey mic that plugs right into the Apple jack and turns the entire thing into a large, hi-quality mic.

Honestly, I don't think mine works. I'm not sure if they gave me one that they re-spliced, but the quality sounds like the phone's microphone. I'll probably try one of the other mic adapters in that case.

Could the mic jack going into the adapter not be the right kind? There are so many different combinations (mic, mic + headset, headset only, mono, stereo) it gets confusing.

@Coolbone, do you know if the TRRS gives the equivalent of plug-in power? The various mini mics out there that I'm considering using appear to require that.
