I have the handcent app installed and then removed the normal messenger notifications and auto receive but i still see in task killer the messenger app running and using memory even though i am only using handcent.

Any info would help thank you

Handcent runs off the stock app IIRC. The stock app will always be running. And there's really no reason to use a task killer, since Android does a pretty darn good job of managing memory. I believe there's a topic on task killers at the top of the page
