    Samsung Fascinate.

I cannot answer about 75% of calls from my wife.

The Answer Icon does not appear when it rings and I do not have any way of answering it then except for the incoming call to end, then I go to call log and call her (them) back. Any ideas?

It is a PHONE after all!

Weird. How do you answer the 25% of the calls from her you do? Is this phenomenon only with your wife or all calls?

I mainly get calls from my wife on my cell.
I get all the other icons ignore/quiet/her phone number/etc and the buttons that do show are not clickable.
So I wait until the ringing stops, then go to the call log (out of habit).
I read somewhere that keeping the call log empty helps prevent this and I thought it was working but it does not really do anything for the problem.

I asked her if her phone has the same problem as we have the same phone, she has no problems like this. I am going to Verizon after work and ask for a replacement as we just bought them. I understand bugs but this seems like a major problem right now.

So just so I understand correctly, this is an intermittent problem where 75% of the time you get the little puzzle pieces but you cannot move them to answer her call but 25% of the time you can? That really is an oddity and yes I concur with you taking it in. Maybe even have one of the reps there call your cell so you can show them the problem; that should enable you to get an exchange/replacement for a defective unit

    Intermittent is correct.

I am not getting a puzzle piece

I am getting the answer phone screen with a missing answer button.

The Verizon service rep did *22890 [Send] to reprogram the phone and then she said align it with the cell towers. She then called my phone with several in the office. Then I called my wife and she called back. The answer icon was there every time. Still do not trust it yet, keep my fingers crossed.

Hmmm, well thats good so far. Sometimes the software does just need a reset. If it doesnt rear its head again you're probably GTG. Keep us updated. On the 1st recurrence I'd switch it out

So I showed my wife and there was no "answer" button after I got back from Verizon. She just says move the the puzzle piece and answer it.
I had no idea that there were two ways to answer the phone.
One must be while the phone is actively used - "answer",
the other "puzzle" piece when the phone has been inactive.
I missed that in the last few replies - "was there a puzzle button", I was so focused on my "missing" answer button.

Not that I could get that info from the 4 page instruction book (ok, more pages, I exagerate but not much exagerated).

I come from a Blackberry background at work, where you pull the phone out of the holder and it is automatically in answer mode, a much simpler prospect. So the lock mechanism thing stinks in my opinion. I am currently working with an Android app "Screen On" which helps with some of that.

My wife usually has issues learning new stuff on phones and I tell her how it works. I told her this was why we both got the same phone - to help each other out.

The phone in all other respects, except the apps you can never delete but workaround, is excellent. Battery life is one day just like a Blackberry. My old LG flip phone though would charge and last 3-4 weeks, but not as fun!

Thanks for you replies. Hope this helps some other sap out.

Hmmmmm, so you did have the puzzle pieces all along? Oh well at least you are all good now. Also just to correct you if you choose to root then you can remove any app from that pre installed bloat you choose to
