Hmm..You really don't need setCPU if you are using a stock kernel.

Here's the best way to save battery:

    -No live wallpapers.
    -Few to no widgets.
-Screen needs to be on auto brightness.
    -Bluetooth turned off.
    -WiFi turned off.
    -GPS turned off.

I keep GPS/wifi/bluetooth off unless im actually using them. This should help your battery life.

You can try the application "juice defender" which turns off wifi/3g when you're not using your phone. My whole family has noticed a significant increase in battery life...

thanks for the tips... i took off the pandora widget and youtube widget. and decided to use just direct apk's from the app drawer. i noticed the only thing i have syncing in the background is launcher pro facebook widget. also if im home the wifi stays on :)
i used setcpu on the droid x and it did wonder's but im having trouble on the fascinate. i usually set the profiles also so that could be helping the battery. is there anyway to get setcpu to work??

    you can also:

    -remove bloatware
    -turn off haptic feedback
-check out ultimatejuice (paid upgrade of juicedefender, see how you like JD first)
