just wondering if they came up with a true fix for us slcd screen droid users. i still cant run shadowrom or cm6 with kings kernel yet and that was my hot ticket on my old incredible. would be nice to have a true fix for the clockwork as well rather than a crack around it. any update? thanks.

I thought I read that the problem was a kernel thing. Have you tried installing it and then installing a compatible kernel over it before rebooting?

yes i have tried this multiple times. over on xda they were saying its a driver issue with the slcd setup. i cannot install shadowrom, skyraider or cm but for some odd reason i was able to install ruby with no problems running kings kernel. i am gettting quads in the 1800s but there are a few settings that i miss dearly that were with shadowrom. really want to run that rom again and hope they come out with a fix.

I have an slcd screen and had issues as well until I started flashing Koush's test 2 kernal on top of any ROMs I flash. When I do that it works perfectly. Try that kernal with your desired ROM. Flash the ROM, then immediately flash the kernal. DO NOT BOOT BETWEEN FLASHES. See if that works.

I have an sLCD dinc, I have ran Shadow and CM6 a few times, try flashing KK AOSP kernel or ORDER AOSP kernel AFTER the rom flash, worked good for me. I find myself addicted to sense now though, and cant live with aosp

Doesn't look like I can upload it here. I have uploaded it on XDA before with no problems (I am KacieB on XDA). If you want to PM me your email address I can send it to you.

I originally found it on Google so I know that works.

well here is the latest. i was tried test #2 kernel and walaw. it worked. i was able to finaly flash the shadowrom. now here is the kicker. after i flashed it and i was able to actually boot it up, got everything set how i wanted it, i thought maybe i will try kings kernel one more time after i as able to boot up and shazam. for some reason after i used test 2 and actually got the phone to boot up, it didnt care what kernel i used after that. i am now running shadowrom 2.2 and using kings original #1 aosp kernel. quads are back in the 1800s and everything is totally fine now. i tried the same exact steps on skyraider and cm6.1 and it worked for all 3. before using test 2 kernel, it would stick on the splash screen and would never boot up. after test 2 kernel and finaly booting the phone up, it seems it didnt matter what kernel i used and all is well. just an update and possible fix for others as well.

Interesting for sure! Just wondering what the benefits are for the 2 kernals you mentioned above. Any reason those are preferred to the test #2?

test 2 is more of a stock kernel from what i can tell. no overclocking what so ever. both of the king aosp kernels are overclocked and also fix the issue with slow battering charging. my phone charges super quick with the king #1 and batter life is amazing. talk all day from 8am to 5pm and i still have around 70% left. its nice to overclock on the king kernel to 1.113gh and set a profile to run at 450 or so while screen is off. saves big time on battery but yet when i overclock i get quad scores in the low 1800s.

those are for sense based roms. you need a kernel that is made for a aosp rom

go here. the link you provided was for sense based roms. i get the best battery life on bsf #1 and my quad scores are in the 1790s consistantly. i tried bsf #2 and got quads of 1830s consistantly but for some reason on my phone, #1 gave me a tad better battery life. i would try all 4 of them and find which one works best on your phone. every phone and rom setup is diff and have to find which works best for your setup. i can tell you i have tried them all and none compare to kings kernels as far as battery life and speed.

I'm new to the Inc but not to android. I'm debating rooting but all this talk of kernels is confusing. I came from the Eris where you didn't need to flash a kernel unless you wanted to OC. If I rooted using the 1 Click method by unrevoked could I still OC without flashing a custom ROM or kernel or is the kernel needed to OC? Also, which kernel would you reccomend? I love sense and now that I have 2.2 I'm perfectly happy with it, I just would like to underclock when the screen is off to try and save more battery. I have the SLCD screen as well. Sorry to jack your thread, but I figured since I have the same screen you'd be able to answer my questions. Thanks in advance for your help

it depends on if the rom has a custom kernel that allows OC built in. if not then you must flash a OC kernel and they do much more than just OC. if your just wanting to UC you can do that now with setCPU after your roooted. just creat a profile that scales it down to say 400 ish while screen is off. you just can overclock with out a kernel that allows you to do so.
