Well I really want a case because I know i drop my phone once in a while. I didn't like the clear case to be quite honest, and I was hoping there are some cases that I should be told about. (btw I would rather have a case than a leather pouch but all suggestions are fine ) Thanks In Advance :)

I bought my Captivate at the AT&T store. I went ahead on bought the Body Glove black case. It fits like a glove. It doesn't protect the screen, but it does the back and the sides.

Yah I was hoping to buy one of those too but they didn't have any. Mind uploading some pics of the phone/case?

I got the bodyglove semi-rigid silicone case in-store, but that's more about preventing scratches than protecting the phone.

I've been looking around on the main accessory sites and a lot of what they're offering are generic phone pouches, etc - and I am 90 percent sure that most of them won't fit the Captivate; it's too long.

Samsung actually has some nice silicon cases, but I just don't really like its crazy design on the back. Do you mind uploading some pics of the case?

I got the Body Glove case and a case of screen protectors. The AT&T store also offered a hard case but I have had bad experiences with those. The Body Glove seems to offer enough protection for me but it is your decision.

Haha well seeing as no pics have been uploaded just yet, do you have any insight on how the case feels and what it looks like?

I picked up the bodyglove case and screen protectors from my local
    AT&Fee store today.

The screen protectors for this are a bit trickier than my Iphone, but after
scrapping 2 of them, I finally got the 3rd installed with no garbage under it.

The body case is as a previous poster stated. I wouldnt want to drop my
phone. I dont think this case would do much to prevent damage. Then again,
my Iphone had an Otterbox, so I'm used to more robust cases.

Overall, I think the combo is reasonable for the phone. The case doesnt get in the way of any of the buttons/toggles and the screen protector does
exactly that without interfering with the touch screen whatsoever.

Oh ok, thank you so much! :) I actually ordered a screen protector that should fit, but I just kind of want a case to protect my phone. How much was the case btw?

The body glove does seem a bit flimsy. I would not recommend it if you drop your phone a lot. It does fit the phone well and is excellent for protection against scratches.

Ok, and I don't drop my phone often, once in a while though I get bumped or something. I probably drop my phone a couple times a year. But any pics?

My local store sold 2 cases. A Hard plastic clear case for $29.99 or
the Body Glove for $24.99. Still a gouging, but I'd rather buy them now,
then drop the stupid thing waiting on Amazon shipping.

Insurance on it is a joke.

    $4.99 per month
    $125.00 deductible
and you get a reconditioned refurb to replace yours. woot.

(I realize you commonly dont get new units, but the last 2
refurbs I bought from AT&T had scratches and other issues.)

I'll be damned if I'm spending $125 in deductables and another
$120 in monthly fees (24 months) for a refurb replacement that
    likely is scratched to hell.

Edit: Working on pics right now.. will try to get some posted shortly.

    Body Glove Gel Case Pics..

Pulled the case off and snapped some pics with the phone.

    ImageShack Album - 3 images

What I like about this case is it keeps the same general look of the phone
when its in the case. Its stiff rubber, so it fits snuggly and stays in place.
Doesnt obstruct any buttons or sliders, etc.

The only real con here is I dont imagine this case will work wonders
if you drop your phone. I would still expect cracked glass.

Tellem Sonic sent you for a free swift kick in the butt...:)

I dont suffer fools easily and AT&T stores seem to be packed to
the rafter with idiots. There are a few gems in various stores, but
    they seem to be rare.

I just picked it up and couldn't be happier. Probably the 2nd best looking case I have seen 8) (the first was this slick looking one of the Droid Incredible)

sonicanatidae, I'm glad you were able to post pictures. I tried to use the camera here do some shots of the case installed on the phone and they were all dreadful ... then my boss came back from his meeting and said "Are we paying you to play with your new cell phone all day?" (Truth: We paid HIM for a good 30 minutes this morning to play with it, and as he makes more money than I do. I think I was owed a little more playtime.)

It's a nice-looking case that does echo the look of the phone. That (plus the screen protector) will probably keep the wee beastie from getting random scratches. But it isn't the kind of case that will protect a phone from a drop.

They're ugly as sin, but I'll probably get an Otterbox when one becomes available - I am more interested in keeping the phone alive than I am in aesthetics. :) I just called Otterbox and their official status is 'no current plan to make a case for the Galaxy S series,' but they have cases for other, less-popular Samsung phones.
