Any new phone rumors for Sprint?

I wonder what happened to the Nexus and Note? They are getting a little dated, soon to be outdated, if they don't launch very soon. I've been saving an upgrade for 5 months for a high end phone and nothing to choose from yet.

The Note was never officially announced. The Nexus will most likely be released this month.

 I thought you were joking around TS! I feel bad for making a joke of it now. That is really cool that you got to go to an event like that. Thanks for doing that write up. Remember 2 years ago when you like the rest of us were patiently awaiting every Evo 4G detail, and now you are there in person with the new device in your grasp experiencing every Evo 4G LTE detail. Unbelievable!

I would have had some questions for you to ask had I known you were actually going.
Us Evo 3D users would love to know an approximate date for our next software update to ICS. Someone there in the know may have been able to give us a window of when to expect it possibly.
Did you happen to go into any of the memory settings? Many are curious about the usable space left after allocating for system resources and application storage.
In one of your run ins with the device did you happen to try to adjust or turn off the camera shutter sound?
Did you ever try the external speaker? (though it would have been impossible to hear it based on the videos I've seen. The DJ was having a good time I bet)

Well our fearless admin here Rob went to the event and covered it rather well for Phandroid, I went because Sprint invited me since I'm an Advocate in their forums and since I'm very into the Network Vision that Sprint is doing and being reported so well by S4GRU, I decided to make my view and observations there. But I do believe I did mention it a few times here in AF that I was going.

    As for your questions...
1-Us Evo 3D users would love to know an approximate date for our next software update to ICS. Someone there in the know may have been able to give us a window of when to expect it possibly.
I doubt very much anyone would have answered anything other that questions about the EVO LTE.
2-Did you happen to go into any of the memory settings? Many are curious about the usable space left after allocating for system resources and application storage.
Crap, I knew I should have done something else, totally forgot about that.
3-In one of your run ins with the device did you happen to try to adjust or turn off the camera shutter sound?
Although this could have been asked, it wouldn't have crossed my mind since I end up applying that enforcedstreamsilencer apk from Google that silences the camera shutter sound.
    Instructions on its use are...
    * download the APK to your phone
    * browse to the file with the "Files" application
    * enable "Unknown Sources" in Application Settings (which you are prompted to do if you try to open it from Files app
    * open the app and check the checkbox
    * (you may need to reboot)
Then you can test the stock Camera app and you shouldn't have the Click anymore.
4-Did you ever try the external speaker?
Actually I did get to hear the speaker in the sound proof booth while testing the HD Voice. It was loud enough for me but it was short and not long enough of a test to actually mention that it was a test. lol

Thanks for all your responses and time.

I've been around, I'm well versed in the methods its just some aren't good enough. HTC took away the ability and I want HTC to give it back. I'm hoping it is mute-able again in Sense 4.0.

Hey MoPho (just kidding ), that .apk is for Motorola phones only as far as I know. Though I've never actually tried installing it. I could be wrong but I believe that it is specific to Motorola code and file systems (I think Moto even made the .apk). And please Dear God, nobody mention SilentSnap or I may lose it.

I thought I read somewhere that the apk I mentioned above worked in some phones other than Moto, but I can't find it, so maybe you are right.

as for another method you can try is the following, but I'll hide it from plain view since its not really authorized and i don't want to get into trouble.

    SilentSnap

    :p

Payback for the previous joke you did. :p :D

It would be nice if they did the same thing with this that Verizon/Samsung did with Droid Charge. The Charge got bits that the GSII got. It got the larger Super Amoled + display and the 8mp camera. Far fetched wishes, but who knows.

Hi folks. Since I've had my Evo since launch, I'm due for an "upgrade". I love my Evo, but the killer is the fact that I'm forced through Sprint to pay an extra $10 a month on 4G, which I don't even use.

It's been two years since the Evo came out, so there's got to be something that's just as fast over Wi-Fi, has a decent screen/camera, that can use 3G, basically all the stuff I can do with my Evo, minus the b.s. 4G that I don't want to pay for anymore.

I believe its now a "premium data" charge, and applies to basically all smartphones.

I'm sure there are phones that don't qualify for this, but its gonna be a downgrade.

Right. I think the LG Marquee is kinda like what I'm talking about. Same speed processor, same RAM, 5mp cam vs. Evo's 8mp (probably with the same size sensor), but no 4G, just 3G and WiFi, which is all I use on my Evo anyway. I'm just trying to figure out why the Marquee got ho-hum reviews.

I'm going to flash my EVO to Boost soon. I won't be tied to a contract nor will I have to pay the $10 fee. Don't need 4G because I work at home and have wifi at home. Never really needed the 4G.

You mean flash it over to Boost Mobile? How does one do that and how much cheaper do you think it will be per month?

The apk does work for other phones. I'm using it on my 3VO. Just downloaded it and tried it. Didn't think it would work. Silentsnap also works good.

the $10 is for premium data not 4G. think of it as for paying for data. like on verizon and att.

Instead of paying $30/month for 2 gb of data, you are paying $10/month for unlimited(no caps) with sprint, which is a way better deal.

Plus after network vision, by the end of 2013 99%+ of the sprint network will have LTE. Anyone that has 3g coverage now will get LTE.
