Any ROM's that have improved true-GPS performance?

I'm dying here with the 5 minute (non-aGPS assisted) fix times and frequent losses of fix.

Not that I know of. Some of the roms out there will break it completely though. ;)

My first 2 Moments had lousy weak gps reception. My current one has great reception, so the issue with the first two was hardware.

You could try this (credit noobnl who's SDX thread this was lifted from)

    GPS fix

    1. Goto your dialer press *#1472365#
    2. Click the setup button
    3. Click Position Mode
    4. Click Operating Mode
    5. Set to MSAssisted. It seems that Sprint added the options for aGps but by default it is off.
    6. click back arrow once
    7. Click Starting Mode
    8. Set to Cold
    9. Click Back arrow 4 times

I tried that "fix" and it made my gps work very unreliably. It would get a lock faster then it would start losing it, locking again, and then losing it. It wouldn't track on a map at all after that. I put it back how it was and got the slow lock on, but it would at least track in gmaps or US Central...

Odd, the "fix" has been around for a while and I've never had a problem or read about anyone else having a similar issue with it.

The reason why you and others on XDA and other forums found it doesn't help (and can hurt) on the Moment, is because whoever wrote it doesn't understand GPS.

"MSassisted" attempts to transfer positioning calculations to the network servers, something that should never be done on a smartphone.

You are the "MS" and you want your calculations to be MSBased (done on the device).

That makes sense... Mine definitely works better without the fix.
